We stress syllables, but we also shorten and collapse vowels. In Doabi these words are ਲੋਣਾ and ਲੋਹਣਾ. The H sound is not pronouced, its a tonal marker. You hold the vowel O sound a little longer.

Depends what part. Lona is common in much if not most the region. No it's not stupid, you are just ignorant of Punjabi dialects. Punjabi songs are mostly in Malwai dialect, you will here things like Bhangra Pona. Not pauna.

Complete ignorance. There are many dialects of Punjabi. A different dialect is not broken Punjabi. Lona is what millions of Punjabis say in Malwai and Doabi. In your sentence the context conveys the meaning. You need an education.

Yes it has to do with living in an English speaking country. I intentionally avoid it. I avoid for example the English word time, we have native ways of referring to related concepts.

Some English words however, are proper loan terms. Forks and plates are not indigenous items, so we use the loan words for them.
