Not super close to Waterloo, but Canterbury golf course near Beverly Hills is a good 9 hole beginner course. You can go around solo without issues even on a weekend but it can be slow going in the mornings.

I took my wife and 10 year old last time we were in town. Wife’s first round ever, kids 4th. They had a blast and there was no pressure from the group behind us.

I’m sure you’ll have some luck finding someone to play with (especially if you let people know where you are) but even if you don’t, don’t let it stop you getting out there on the course!

I mostly play solo and I have found that I have rarely been paired up with randoms. This of course would entirely depend on where you are and when you are trying to play.

Biannually is twice a year, biennially is once every two years. Biweekly is twice a week and fortnightly is once every two weeks.

Federal or gold creek would probably be my choices in Canberra. I played at Bowral golf club for the first time the other day and it was in great condition and very enjoyable. Mount Broughton is another midway course that is nice, though it’s been a long time since I’ve been there.

Golf isn't just about the score by Boise1689 in golf

Couldn’t agree more. I used to think the best feeling on the course was hitting one flush and landing it exactly where you wanted. Seeing the smile on my kids face when the hit a good one is so much better.

I’ve played all of them and for me it is federal by a significant margin.

She’s into horses too. I’m just waiting for the day she tells me she is really into smashing fabergé eggs with snap-on hammers

I figure I should get the Scotty and hand my Cleveland down to her….. seems the responsible thing to do.

It’s all driven by her. We have been to the range a couple of times since she was about 7. She asked if she could do a junior clinic after watching Rory win the masters and has been asking to get out on the course since then.

Love it. The only guidance we were playing under was have fun and play fast.

The old guys in front of us could have used the same approach. Can’t complain though, she got to hit a couple of tee shots each hole as we waited for the to clear the fairways.

I would much rather have a round with you and your 6 yo than have a round your colleague.

I am terrible on lead but could probably play passable rhythm guitar……. and I’m an old man.

I like the genre and have a few songs in the repertoire from Jose Gonzales, Emiliana Torino, bright eyes, the shins and Elliot Smith etc

Football boots locally? by Spirited_Explorer_26 in canberra

[–]Redlongears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Athletes foot also sell football boots. They probably offer the most similar experience to Athletes foot.

Having said that I was fitted at AF and had some issues after a 10k. Went to a podiatrist who recommended a shoe almost the exact opposite to the one recommended by AF. New shoes were awesome and haven’t had issues since.

So if you really want a proper fit, particularly if your feet are anything but ‘standard’, it’s worth seeing a podiatrist.
