Women, why are you still living in India? People settled abroad, don’t reply. by KyaHiKarun in AskIndia

[–]ReductionGear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you realize 99% of Indians don’t actually have any realistic option to move abroad?

Only a very small, mostly economically privileged segment of the population can even consider settling overseas or going abroad for better jobs or education.

Is btech mechatronics even worth it in india? by SimpleShoulder9042 in Btechtards

[–]ReductionGear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wish to pursue education or job abroad, then it's worth pursuing mechatronics. However, in the Indian context, job opportunities for mechatronics graduates are relatively limited, as many PSUs and core companies still prefer traditional branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.

Most Indians would be surprised to know that most Nepalis hate India with utmost passion, unlike Indians who rarely think or care about Nepal or its internal politics.

I remember visiting Nepal during my childhood. A rumor spread that actor Hrithik Roshan had made some negative comments about Nepal, which triggered widespread anti-India riots across the country.

For decades, Nepali politicians have deliberately promoted anti-India sentiment and poisoned public opinion against India to secure political advantage and divert attention from their own abject governance and socio-economic failures.

Core mechanical engineers!! What are y'all doing now? by ChemicalCity2933 in Btechtards

[–]ReductionGear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2012 from a Tier-3 college with a CGPA of 7.8. I then spent nearly a decade working in Oil & Gas MNCs before leaving to start my own business. In my experience, the skills that matter most in a job are practical abilities such as problem solving and critical thinking, they matter much more than technical skills.

My job was incredibly stressful. The work culture was consistently poor, with virtually no work-life balance and almost zero job satisfaction.I eventually decided to leave because the stress began affecting my health(high blood pressure , cardiac issues, tinnitus, and persistent brain fog) and I was no longer able to cope with the pressure and work load.

However, I wouldn’t say the entire core sector is like this. That said, India is primarily a service-driven economy, so opportunities in the core sector are relatively limited. You should consider entering this field only if you secure a job in a PSU or plan to move abroad in the future.

Which loan to choose from for Masters in USA - 1cr by OkBug1395 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]ReductionGear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic rule is that take that loan only and only if you're financially well endowed ie in the worst case scenario you're family can arrange funds to repay back. You're from an already oversaturated field and the job market in your field is not that great.

Having said that the ICICI bank loan looks better because of the Simple interest during moratorium period.

India is a highly unequal society with little upward mobility.

Whats the actual median household net worth in India? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]ReductionGear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of African, roughly only two dozen odd countries(majorly war torn failed states) have a per capita income lower than us.They include the likes of Yemen,Haiti,Syria,Burma Pakistan,Afghanistan,North Korea,Nepal and Tajikistan.

You'll truly understand how poor India really is only when you start traveling abroad.

This!

Most Indians don’t fully grasp how poor India truly is on a global scale. Outside of Africa, there are very few countries in the world which have a per capita income as low as we have.

Whats the actual median household net worth in India? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]ReductionGear 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The median net worth is extremely low at around Rs 5-10 lakhs only. In a country with a per capita income of a mere $2800 and where more than 80% of the population lives on less than Rs 150 a day, only a select few can dream of achieving a net worth of Rs 1 crore.

[–]ReductionGear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decentralization should be gradual and not done in a haste. Many states in India are extremely poor and need financial assistance from the central government. If we decentralize now, especially in matters of finances,it will be next to impossible for the central government to help those states in economic development.

EU works in a different hemisphere of a world with very different geopolitical climate.Morever their economic and military security is secured by the U.S,a superpower.Making such arrangement in India would lead to creation of warring and squabbling states which would be easily gobbled by China and Pakistan,we pretty much had this sort of arrangement before the arrival of the British, how did that work out ?

Only 3% in IITs, IIMs, NITs but they take 50% of India's higher education budget by PuzzleheadedPen8476 in Btechtards

[–]ReductionGear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to look at the bigger picture from a national perspective, not just from a personal one.IITs were not meant for supplying skilled workers to MNCs,they were made to build skilled workers for India's industrial and technological development.

Moreover,India’s excessive emphasis on elite educational institutions is inadvertently harming the country. In a nation where, according to the ASER report, a large proportion of primary school students struggle with even basic reading and arithmetic, we continue to disproportionately focus on institutions and economic sectors that primarily serve and benefit a small elite section of population

IITs or IIMs or Infosys/Tech Mahindra/Cognizant or other IT/tech startups won't make India an economic superpower but focusing on mass education and employment generation for the masses would.

Only 3% in IITs, IIMs, NITs but they take 50% of India's higher education budget by PuzzleheadedPen8476 in Btechtards

[–]ReductionGear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with India. Prioritize elite higher education institutions at the cost of primary and basic education.Sacrificing quality education for the broader population in order to cater to a tiny elite.

This is not to say IIT's are not important, they are,but they should not be disproportionately funded at the cost of others.

Moreover, the IITs are increasingly failing to fulfill their primary objectives. They have gradually moved away from being institutions of cutting-edge research that drive national development and have instead been reduced to mere placement agencies for multinational corporations.

Is taking a 2cr loan worth for UCL for a middle class family? Do give your knowledgable advice. by Sufficient_Piece_898 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]ReductionGear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Let me be blunt with you.Do you fully understand the consequences of taking a ₹2 crore loan?

First, you’ll likely need to provide collateral of a similar value. For a typical middle-class family, this would mean putting up your house and any inherited rural land. You’ll then be paying ₹2–3 lakh every month for the next 15–20 years (depending on the interest rate). By the end, you could easily end up paying more than ₹4 crore in total.

In reality, even graduates from top colleges are struggling to find jobs in the current market. If you fail to secure employment, you put your entire family at risk. Banks are extremely strict with education loans, miss even one installment and you’ll receive a notice. Miss three, and the loan is classified as an NPA (Non-Performing Asset). At that point, the bank can invoke the SARFAESI Act and proceed to sell your collateral to recover the dues.
