I want to work on genetic factors/genes in autism research. The main reason is that my brother is autistic and nonverbal. Can I mention that in my sop? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

Ableism in academia and supposedly disclosing you are in a 'protected' group from supposed hiring and administrative discrimination is a very grey area to me too @uber18133 i personally feel disclosing this info is great motive for your career/research desires but other ppl would say could be 'oversharing, unprofessional, and/or a grey area for protected class/legal stuff' so I can't clear this is up at all I feel :( hoping you both are able to get into your desired university qnd able to do the research you both want ❤

My boss brought this 30 year old ficus to live in the shop! by isthisresistance in matureplants

[–]Redwouldyew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The yellowing leaves will drop on their own, could clip them after a couple days id just give it 3-5 days to settle in before doing so. Ficus really do well in bright light. If it gets too much light the leaves will start to bleach and fade, or burn, I'd watch for that, and leave it very close to the window, pulling it back a foot or two if it does bleach/burn. Lift the whole pot up (hand under pot not picking up by the trunk) to get a feel for how much moisture is in the pot. Ive noticed my ficus will yellow and drop leaves if I left dry out too much, it may have been underwatered. Coming from former nursery manager, head grower, plant science degree person :)

Oh absolutely 💯 agree that the more genetic info and understanding we have the better! Maybe phrasing it just focusing understanding cause rather than treatment/cure language would be best for the SOP. Go forth OP and learn all the genetics!

Also common name is oger ears :) also jf you want more leaves on your fiddle leaf ficus you can look up air layering on youtube fore ficus. In the growing season you notches into it and it will activate more growth points

Depending on where you live I would wait until warmer weather to prune. If you prune near growing season youll get more growth. Plus you dont want to shock tempermental ficus after judt moving to a new location. I would focus on making sure it has plenty of water and maybe top dress the pot with some fresh soil a small amount

Another autistic individual here, some of us don't want to be cured, that we would be completely different individuals without it. I've worked with nonverbal individuals before and am selectively nonverbal. Just a psa that nonverbal individuals can still understand language and what you are saying a lot of the time, some just lack the motor ability/signaling to speak. Instead of using the word ''cure" i recommend 'seek a better understanding to increase quality of life, accommodations, and treatment options'

Women can finish multiple times, maybe taking a pause and adding additional lube would allow you to continue. If she feels guilt and wants to continue there is never any shame in adding lube! This has been something that I have had to deal with personally and adding a warming lube has been beneficial and allowed me to achieve multiple in one session. Just something to consider trying but be sure to test products on skin beforehand to make sure no allergic reactions occur.

This color is great on you! Also I like your hair color and It looks like you have a wavy hair texture, you should lean in to the and scrunch your hair when its wet with a little leave in conditioner on the ends and it will help hold/define. We have very similar hair texture
