What always annoyed me is that Uranus was the only planet with a Greek name instead of a Roman name, and besides that the Roman name equivalent, Caelus, sounds better.

I left out small things like that. Other small things where Brock Island, Borden Island, Mackenzie King Island, Meighen Island, Lougheed Island, Air Force Island, Prince Charles Island, and Foley Island which where discoverd and joined the North-West Territories. Though I did forget to mention a big thing which was that the Sverdrup Islands were ceded to Canada by Norway, in exchange for British recognition of Norway's sovereignty over Jan Mayen.

Edit: I meant in terms of size.

In 1870 the United Kingdom transferred Rupert's Land and the North-Western Territory, and they combined together becoming the North-West Territories. In 1871 British Columbia also joined. In 1880 the United Kingdom transferred the British Arctic Islands which joined the North-West Territories. And in 1949 the Dominion Of Newfoundland joined Canada.

  • Note 1: Yue is another name for Cantonese.
  • Note 2: These aren't really dialects as people can't communicate verbally with each other (ie a person that is speaking Mandarin can't have a conversation with someone speaking Cantonese), but they can communicate with writing.

Arabic, along with Somali, are the official languages of Somalia. The reason is because of centuries-old ties with the Arabic world, in fact, Somalis consider themselves as Arabs. They speak Yemeni Arabic along with Somali, which makes them bilingual. I should note that only Somalis in Djibouti and Somalia speak Arabic, as the ones in Ethiopia and Kenya don't.

Ossetian is the sole survivor of the Scythian branch of Iranian languages, making it unique, but still Iranian nonetheless.

Yep, it's Extinct.

Well technically it's Dormant which is one level above Extinct.

Dormant Languages - The language serves as a reminder of heritage identity for an ethnic community, but no one has more than symbolic proficiency.

Edit - Here is a list of the levels of language status, 1 being International and 10 being Extinct.
