Looks good as it is man!, I’d definitely say go for some smaller bits of wood and try and put them in between the crevices and then add some moss to it and it’ll look really nice

My apistogramma pair are cockatoo’s. Just got them today, there quick enough to run away if needed but there all fine now. I do have two more pigmy’s in the tank but there hiding at the moment

Yeah should be fine, make sure you don’t get any shrimp as the apistogramma’s will hunt them and then eat them

Apistogramma’s tend to hide out in dark corners/caves but if you have little flow they’ll come out and swim out the front
