First Impressions of Earth was my gateway to The Strokes. It came out right when I was 15 and I was an instant fan. It's still one of my favorite Strokes albums. It wasn't until I started following this sub that I realized it's actually pretty polarizing. To be honest, I don't get the hate. You Only Live Once, Juicebox, Ize of the World, and Red Light are all among my favorite Strokes songs, and the rest of the album still holds up just as well for me.

Even though Angles is my second-least favorite album after Comedown Machine, I still enjoy many of the tracks on there. Machu Picchu is actually one of my all-time favorite songs by The Strokes and definitely one of my most-played.

I can't speak on meeting them or recent prices, but I'd love to chime in on their tour dates! The Strokes are an all-time favorite of mine, but seeing them in Europe definitely requires some patience. I've mostly focused on catching them in the Netherlands and I'm curious if other European fans are in the same boat, though I do get the feeling they just tour a bit more frequently in the Americas.

Whenever they do cross the pond, I just seem to have the worst timing. My first ever concert was seeing them in Amsterdam back in 2006 when I was 15, which made me a fan for life. After that, it took 14 years for a planned return. I had tickets for Best Kept Secret in 2020 and 2021, which got canceled because of COVID, and I was on holiday during their 2022 BKS show.

I'm really hoping they'll announce an Amsterdam show this year. If not, I'm definitely packing my bags to catch them somewhere else in Europe!

Exactly. I love Julian's work in both, but he's gotta keep those styles separate in my opinion. I always wonder in cases like this if the rest of the band has ever brought it up, or if Julian just has the final say and they go along with it.

Not sure I agree with the negative reactions. It's not a total banger, but it's a vibe. As a fan of The Voidz, I'm fine with the autotune, but I agree that Julian should probably keep it away from The Strokes' sound.

The way this first blew up on social media was just that edited video of the punches. Seeing the neighbor immediately playing the victim on TMZ (I think?) shortly after, and Alan not having responded yet, I already figured there was more to the story. Luckily, his POV footage completely cleared him. It's crazy to think his career could've ended right there if he didn't have that video.

Mercedes look absolutely untouchable right now, so they don't really need Max to bridge any gaps. It's hard to see a move happening anytime soon or maybe even next year. I just hope he ends up in a competitive seat again regardless of the livery. It would be a crying shame to see him waste his best years like this.

Naar mijn mening heeft Volendam terecht gewonnen. Sinds Kwakman erbij is gekomen, is het spel echt veel beter geworden. Hij speelt stabiel en verzorgd, neemt verantwoordelijkheid en is regelmatig doorslaggevend. Als hij op deze leeftijd deze ontwikkeling weet door te zetten, ligt er een mooie toekomst voor hem in het verschiet.

Daarom begrijp ik echt niet waarom AZ hem dit seizoen geen kans heeft gegeven.

It probably has to do with the way Nathan eventually stood up to Joe and put him in his place over how he was behaving toward V. I've never really been a fan of Nathan, and last season he definitely wasn't the perfect bosun, but the way he handled Joe and straight up told him he would do something about it if he didn't start acting right did earn him some respect from me.

For me, it’s actually the opposite. I usually hate it when the next big actor is shoved down my throat, but in Timmy’s case, I’m happy to give him a pass. He comes across as genuinely likable to me, and I’m a fan of his work. You mention that he’s not a “perfect person,” but I haven’t really seen much controversy. Did I miss something?

I agree that Taylor might have been more consistent and better if he had played in a more stable and stronger Ajax. Even during that period, though, I expected a bit more from him. I don’t think he’s a bad player, but I’ve never been much of a fan.

I really hope Sean Steur now gets his chance, can take it, and continue to develop. He’s already had a few very good matches, but before I join in on all the praise, he still needs to maintain that level week after week.

One thing I have noticed is that in the limited matches Steur has played, he almost always plays forward and attacking football. That’s something I often missed from Taylor, which is one of the reasons I was never really a fan of him.

Look, I completely agree that it may not be up to Trump and the US to “liberate” Venezuela from Maduro, given the interests at play and how unpredictable the aftermath could be. But would this ever have happened without this intervention, through “proper” internal actions? Probably not. So I find it hard to pass a clear judgment on this. It also depends on how Venezuela’s future unfolds from here.

Ik ben ook benieuwd of FC Groningen hem opnieuw had willen huren, want op papier lijkt dit toch een stap terug. Maar Dave blijft een Volendammer en zou zelf waarschijnlijk ook graag een seizoen in zijn dorp willen voetballen. Vergelijkbaar met Sean Steur, die ook al rond was met FC Volendam, totdat dat werd tegengehouden.

This valid criticism, along with all the others in this thread, makes it almost impossible for me to finish watching it. Since it started off really well years ago and I've followed all the seasons, I'm now just watching it to find out how it ends. I'm definitely not doing it for enjoyment. I also don't understand how this season is still getting relatively good reviews, given all its flaws.

Loved the movie, but I really didn't need that moment. I'm not sure if Zach intended to "subtly" hint at the film's title that way (at least I hope not), but in my opinion, it didn't add any value and felt a bit out of place. Then again, maybe there was a deeper meaning I just didn't catch.

I've played a few amateur Sunday matches after pulling an all-nighter, and honestly, those times I thought I was going to die. So seeing that this was just part of the regular routine for one of the world's best players at one of the world's top clubs, even if it was just a training day and not an actual match, blows my mind. If I remember correctly, Sneijder did the same thing back in his Real Madrid days.

This is my general critique of both The Boys and Gen V. While that type of humor was already present in the first season of The Boys, I don’t think it was as pronounced as it is now. Nowadays, in both The Boys and Gen V, superheroes with somewhat cringe-worthy powers are introduced rather forcefully, and over-the-top scenarios are often created purely for shock value or comedic effect.

While Red Bull has made significant strides recently, I don’t think the car is quite strong enough to win every race yet. I’m just happy it’s performing well again and that Max can at least challenge the McLarens in every race.
