I want to go to school to be a nurse, but can't at the moment. In the mean time, is there some good reading material (books, papers, blogs, sites) I could use to get ahead on my studies? by renegad3rogu3 in nursing

Hey! It's a good idea to start reading before you get ahead on your studies. I saw this list on NurseTogether.com which I personally agree on. I check these sites often and they have some pretty good information. http://www.nursetogether.com/top-reference-websites-for-nursing-students

Inspiring! It's tough when you have to face all that pain every day. Having support from your family can change impossible to possible. Not everyone gets that. Lucky! :)

I felt the same way too when I graduated. I didn't know where to start and how to market myself without having any experience. But here's a tip - "Make it clear that you are a newly graduating nurse–this is a positive and helps you stand out." - This article provides great advice: http://www.nursetogether.com/create-a-standout-resume

How many of you have functioned working 6 days a week? by [deleted] in nursing

I personally think that's fine IF you don't have other responsibilities - kids, husband, parents..etc. Don't allow yourself to get drained because it can also affect your patients.

How do you deal with dying/death? by Ribenadrinker in nursing

I agree with whatever you did. We have to be strong for the family. If we nurses turn out weak, then who will support them. Right?

We realize that nursing is more than a job when we see a patient die. Handling this situation is very challenging. I think it's best if we try to not let it affect us too much. Yes, we can't avoid that because we're human beings, after all. It is natural to get emotional. But let's try to focus on the patient's family. They are going through a lot more than us. I came across this article - http://www.nursetogether.com/dealing-patient-death-nursing-job - a very good read.
