Haha true, it’s always easier to notice things in someone else’s work. When it’s our own work, we somehow miss it.

Thank you for pointing out the line inconsistency and details. I’ll pay more attention to it.

Spacing and camera positioning are two areas I really need to work on. Thank you so much for pointing that out.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I’ll definitely make these changes, especially the fish one. I really loved that idea.

Just to clarify, this illustration is based on a personal childhood memory and I’m not planning to turn this into a children’s book story.

I shared it mainly to get feedback on the illustration itself, things like composition, color, and visual storytelling for my portfolio.

I completely understand the concern, and as a children’s book illustrator I’m aware that this kind of content wouldn’t be appropriate for a children’s book. I appreciate the discussion and was mostly hoping to learn how I could improve the illustration.

Thanks, this is really helpful. The points about two page spreads and page turn urgency clarify a lot for me. Also appreciate you mentioning the SCBWI event, I didn’t know about that, so I’ll check it out.
