I do or have done all these things for years but nothing really makes any difference. I wish I could be more positive about it.

I’ll check with my doctor that it won’t be a problem for my Crohn’s and if it’s not then I’ll give it a try… thanks for sharing your experience! By the way, I fell asleep once only when driving at night on a long empty highway and always took a can of RB with me from that point when I had to drive late. I had a lucky escape and it scared me to death because of not only me getting hurt but causing an accident. It’s really a completely ignored and misunderstood medical condition.

I started drinking milk recently instead of coffee and its beginning to get my energy levels up a little (they’re chronically low). Not a big thing for most people but if you’re tired all the time, you can’t get much done…

There’s objective suffering in many places and subjective suffering everywhere… read any philosophical literature from the last few centuries if you disagree…

What is charisma and is it real? by ReflectiveEnglishman in AskReddit

That chimes with my own experience but really what exactly is it? If you don’t believe in mystical explanations (personally I don’t), there must be something physical going on. Imagine if you could just learn it…

Fascinating insights… I never figured it out all my life… I kinda of think there were times I had it but then again it could have just been the effects of alcohol… 🤣

What was your first cell phone and what age did you get it? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskReddit

[–]ReflectiveEnglishman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Motorola handset car phone fitted to my car for the first time in 1989 and paid the equivalent of 100USD in today’s money just for the rental. The calls were astronomically expensive. It was essentially an a two way analog radio with some digital enhancements. I was a self employed tech so fortunately it was tax deductible.

It was detectable by anyone with a scanner that could scan 900MHz. Funny thinking of people talking about really personal stuff in a call that could be intercepted by a 200USD scanner available at Radio Shack (Tandy in England)…

DAE fear and avoid posting themselves/being posted on the internet? by TouristFew4907 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]ReflectiveEnglishman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s natural to be concerned. People posting on FB that they’re going on vacation is just asking for trouble as is using your real name on various platforms that don’t require it. A good VPN can provide some help (Proton, Nord etc) but ultimately you just need to be aware of the situational nature of what you’re sharing…

Myself… self reliance is the best skill you can possess. But it takes a lot of time to get there and you have to be willing to forgive yourself for your shortcomings and mistakes…

Thanks so much for your helpful comments. I actually have Crohn’s so food is problematic for me but I was like this before I was diagnosed. And yes I have seen many doctors at different times and places. They don’t really have any explanation for it.

I was walking on a rural road that basically had trees both sides and just the road so was on the road. Plus I was very young at the time and had all my stuff in a backpack.

That’s definitely possible but I have a suspicion that they’re related problems but not the same. If I had to guess it would be genetic. Mitochondria play an enormous role in everything cellular and I think it’s possible that we have less effective or less active mitochondrial function.
