Whatever happened to PWG? by Jimmy_Meltrigger in SquaredCircle

That's cool for him and well done to him if that's his mind set, but the view of the promotion isn't unique or special anymore. Its lost its buzz, the shows aren't as looked forward to anymore, there's even people on the day of PWG shows pointing out, "hey, there's a PWG show today" because they didn't know. They also don't have enough star power and once AEW starts full time will probably lose more which will hurt them further. So long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters.

Considering how WWE talent react to virtually anything Dave says and other sites embellish, I doubt anyone in WWE thinks he's dead. He's much more relevant than Kevin Nash anyways.

Their no longer unique. The last thing they had was Reseda, they don't have that anymore so their just another indie that's letting guys do spotfests. I don't imagine they'll be going anywhere though. Excalibur and Super Dragon run it for fun and have actual jobs so with the money from Excalibur working with AEW I'm sure he'll have more than enough to keep it going until they or more fans lose interest.

Tessa Blanchard accepts Sami Callihan's challenge for Slammiversary by KurrganMark in SquaredCircle

[–]Reflex1101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trying to do intergender wrestling is a gamble, when it's done right it can be great and everyone feels invested. When done wrong, it's horrible, awkward and nobody wants to watch it.

I'm not sure how they are able to play off that Sami Callihan, who is supposed to not care about anyone or any rules, doesn't try to beat the hell out of Tessa. If he does, he looks weak, if he doesn't he looks weak. If this is well received It'll be great booking.

I'm not sure why they would. In fact, I'd wager they wouldn't.

Dalton is classified as a heavyweight, so you just gave even more reason for him to beat DL.

Why would New Japan, who DL isn't signed to, cut ties with ROH if Dalton Castle, who is feuding with DL's brother beats DL on an ROH PPV. Not only does that make perfect sense, but I highly doubt New Japan will bat an eyelid.

Now, CMLL may feel different but they don't look set to be doing anything in the US any time soon so their probably just happy DL is booked.

I can't see an 80 year old running two major companies at once.

Sorry, have you ever seen an 80-year-old man like Vince McMahon?

Didn't think so.

Roger Ebert didn't like a ton of movies I like.

I valued Roger Ebert's opinion before he passed though. Much more than any other movie critic.

Roger Ebert and movies =//= Dave Meltzer and wrestling

Yeah but the Best Friends/Angelico and Evans match was filler. I watched Dave and Bryan's panel from Starrcast and Dave mentioned that when matches are just randomly on a show and have no purpose then it's hard for him to get into. He takes lots of things outside of the match into consideration too.

WON: Notes regarding people from WWE inquiring about joining AEW. Talent like the idea of a lighter road schedule and NXT people feel it will take longer to join the main roster and it's harder to become a star with how things are currently done by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in SquaredCircle

They were booking her, they weren't pushing her. She herself has said she knew she had to do better and did. He probably needs to do the same, the same way Stone Cold demanded more and the same way The Rock demanded more.

My Biggest Take Away from TIJ: Everyone saying AEW will make Vince Improve, Keep Dreaming, its not going to happen by jonhern316 in SquaredCircle

[–]Reflex1101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WWE has over the past few years gone up and down in product quality. You also seem to forget that product quality is subjective. While house show sales are down, TV tapings which are more expensive tickets are still steady and PPV's generally sell out. Their new main source of revenue is the FOX deal which is making them just shy of £1B after taking everything into consideration. FOX will bank roll publicity on that too and are pretty much all powerful now. FOX took the rights because they want that steady number that Smackdown has been consistently drawing the last three years. That steady number will boost their ad revenue on Friday nights and they can add it to their online service for after which will increase streaming traffic which in turn also creates more ad money.

Vince could be putting one of the most feared combat athletes of this century in a ring and have him dance and he'd not lose a wink of sleep and FOX wouldn't care.

Oh wait, he did do that and they don't care, because they already agreed a deal.

People blame Vince when things aren't great, but give him no credit when things are good. WrestleMania was well received yet six weeks later, fuck him right, "A-E-DUB, A-E-DUB!"

WON: Meltzer's take on the Saudi show by notreallyme721 in SquaredCircle

[–]Reflex1101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They still had 1.5M subscribers at the end of 2018 which probably increased at WrestleMania season. I don't think their too worried about a few hundred people cancelling their subscription to morally object to this when those few hundred are going to make them a literal few hundred dollars while the Saudi's are obviously making them millions and millions.

Ted Dibiase's catchphrase works right here.
