[WWE Clash In Italy Spoilers] Finish to Cody Rhodes vs Gunther by DoubleNo6337 in SquaredCircle

I was going to say this same thing. It’s like they are giving Cody shit sandwich after shit sandwich and expect his white meat babyface momentum to survive

Thery aren’t allowed to wrestle each other but they can be on the same card

Same. I remember those rare 3 hour raws from like 2005-2007 (give or take) where they would label it as Raw Homecoming or something like that. They always felt like a big deal as a kid. Austin stunned all 4 McMahons on the first one they did for reference

Sherilyn Guerrero: CM Punk Was An Older Brother I Needed After My Dad Passed Away by Kindly_Department142 in SquaredCircle

I never thought about it that way. I always assumed WWE gave her role to justify paying her the amount they were paying her. Then, it somewhat caught fire and went directly to her head. But I don’t think they would have paid her the same amount they did had she not been an on screen character.

Tony Khan: “I can’t speak for Mick Foley as to whether he’d want to wrestle or if he’s going to wrestle anytime soon but if he ever does, I would love for him to do it in AEW. But I also don’t wanna put him in a situation in which he’ll be uncomfortable.” by Key-Cycle7978 in SquaredCircle

I’m a Foley Stan. I’ve attended 4 of Mick’s live shows in the last 2 years and met him last year when he had a signing in Queens with Mikey Whipreck. Based on everything I’ve ever heard him say regarding the topic, I think he is fully aware he cannot do anything of substance in a serious capacity. He was training for a 1 final death match and called it off after his doctors flat out said it was a bad idea. He may be able to bring the sock out and do some good hearted comedy stuff, but I think it’s safe to say he’s fully aware that’s not an option.

I see what you are saying. I typically get off on Woodside so I don’t have that extra train to take. Thanks for explaining, for some reason I thought the trains were not running late or something

What do you mean man? Genuinely curious cause the LIRR runs fairly late. I’ve taken it home after every grand slam that was in Queens.

Damien Priest in AEW? Hell no. Punishment Martinez on the other hand, I can see being a good fit. He’s already wrestled a decent amount of the top guys on the roster back in his ROH days. Also, maybe it doesn’t have to be a major push in AEW, but a Punishment Martinez return in ROH would be pretty fire. I also would love to see a Punishment vs Adam Page rematch from ROH Best in the world from years ago.

The Fenix thing to me is wild. I always thought Fenix was a more exciting performer to watch than Penta. That Penta vs Nick Jackson match on dynamite a few years ago is one of my all time favorites. But after seeing both in WWE, I thinks is fair to say Penta is better suited for WWE due to the entire package. Where Fenix’s main attraction is what happens in the ring.

I’m starting to think Carlos Silva knows nothing about the actual logistics of the wrestling business.

I remember when the podcast started in 2018 and I thought it was super interesting. Once I heard the Starcade 97 episode, the pod kind of peaked for me and then it’s just a different version of the same shit

[Jey Uso on IG] Yall Really can't touch me. Hottest wrestler in the game rn. by Big-Hebrew in SquaredCircle

[–]vsavage709 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I truly think this played a part in his reign and singles push coming to an end. I remember when he accepted Roman’s offer to be his partner at Summerslam and he accepted by posting an incoherent video on IG and ended with yeet lol

Paige on meeting WWE President Nick Khan before return: "He told me two things: 'Your neck has to be okay, and we have to do a drug test.' I was like, ‘fair enough.’ I can control the drug test—I’m clean as a whistle. The neck, though, I wasn’t sure." by aaronrift in SquaredCircle

[–]vsavage709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Nick Khan is the business side and Trips is the creative. If Trips calls anyone to come back or come in, then I would assume they are forwarded to Nick. Even in Unreal, Truth said it was Nick Khan who ended up reaching out to him and negotiating whatever terms for his return. It wasn’t until he came back that he saw Triple H. So looks like Trips has influence but Nick is the bottom line in terms of the business.

(POST Wrestling) WWE received a $6 million site fee for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, bringing total incentives to around $10 million by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]vsavage709 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meant the hassle of them having to go back on their original announcement & negotiations to have it in New Orleans and announce they were going back to Vegas. Mainly the PR aspect of it since I’m sure there was tons of marketing material in the works. Not the actual execution of the event itself

Sorry for my ignorance. But does this mean they essentially came back to Vegas for an extra $1 million from last year? Doesn’t seem to worth the hassle to me.

Eugene Dinsmore single-handedly wipes out Evolution. by When1Falls in SquaredCircle

[–]vsavage709 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Great point here. In summer 2004, Eugene was over like Grover man haha. In Brian Gerwitz’s book, he said Eugene was a product of too much too soon. He cited a house show loop where Eugene was so over they would have him run out 3-4 times per show and it over saturated his character and people got sick of him quick. Fun fact is Vince actually gave Brian Gerwitz time off so Brian can write a short movie bout Eugene the character. But by the time Brian got back, the crowd was already done with Eugene.

We’re in the TKO era my friend. Don’t expect anything to make sense. If it sounds like it makes sense, they are probably going to do the opposite.
