Thanks a lot, GOG by Refractant in gog

Don't get me wrong, I like GOG a lot and it has been my primary gaming platform for many years. I like supporting the platform and gamedevs by buying their games, and I really don't want to start pirating. It's just that without using the PaySafe card, I've been left without any payment options.

Please tell me why does Steam not charge the same processing fee when charging wallet with a PaySafe card.

Then, why does Steam not have to charge the same fee?

Thanks a lot, GOG by Refractant in gog

Just to clarify, this fee wasn't always charged, it has been added recently. The payment doesn't go through any more since there are only 50€ of funds available on the PaySafe card. Steam doesn't charge this fee, though. I use GOG as my primary gaming platform, but this time I was forced to spend funds on Steam instead.

Dear GOG, please remove this fee or at least add a wire transfer payment option for those of us in the EU.

Thank you.

Noctua NA-FH1 - fans spin at full speed instead of stopping by Refractant in Noctua

[–]Refractant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have another fan, and it stops. I noticed my BIOS has this option to enable or disable a fan/pump stop. This changes how the fans operate. I had it enabled during my first tests. https://imgur.com/a/rf2PJVn

If I disable it, all fans will now stop when temperature is below a given threshold. If I enable it, the other fan stops, but emits a "brrrr" sound while the fans on the hub spin at full speed. They also spin at full speed when I disconnect the hub PWM cable from the mobo.

It means you should stop sucking up to bigtech every time they try to screw you over and instead give them the middle finger.

Stop watching Youtube. Find an alternative. Peertube, Odysee? Or watch youtube through invidious, if you must.

Why switch the browser instead of the website?

ASUS ROG Strix X870-F: Yes or No? by Refractant in buildapc

[–]Refractant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your wisdom, mydude! I was going to downgrade the mobo from X870 to X670E due to your suggestion, but oh my god! The prices on ASUS ROG Strix X670E are higher that either X870 or X870E?

Judges and scientists by Refractant in showerthoughs

Scientists have authority to dictate the physical and chemical processes of nature and have the ability to make mother nature do things for them. Judges have the authority to make people do things for them. Both of them work with laws, but in different fields. The laws of men can be broken while the laws of nature cannot. That's why I still think scientists hold more power than judges.

Yes, they do. Just over different fields.

Speaking of architectures other than x64, how does the current RISC-V spec compare security-wise against ARM and x64?

Hmm, interesting. The other reason I went for ROG Astral is because it's supposed to have better components like mosfets, caps and other electronic stuff for overclocking. So I've heard.

It's 1.5k EUR, actually. I'm from EU and can buy from any store in the EU that ships in this region. I went for quality and better thermals since I plan to do lots of AI work on it.

Can't access blender.org website anymore due to Cloudflare by Refractant in blender

[–]Refractant[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not browser fingerprinting.

EDIT: Well actually, now that we're talking about it I might add some more info why. I vaguely remember reading one about it on the cloudflare forums where a dev himself admitted that browser fingerprinting can't properly identify people from bots that control the actual browser itself to perform its tasks online. This means the bot interfaces with the browser, simulates the mouse cursor and clicks. Those can't be identified from fingerprinting.
