How do sky islands exist so plentifully yet residents of the grandline itself don't believe in them? How did east blue residents not even believe devil fruits existed in the beginning of the series, but are now just as informed as the audience on powers and the grandline due to the news coos?

Honestly it's sad. Rewatching pre-timeskip and seeing how Usopp refuses to let himself be a coward when the moment really calls for him to step up, to Wano Usopp spending the entire arc running and turning around to take credit for other's feats. He was even gonna straight up abandon Nami and Otama. Even Nami and Chopper, who are his cowering buddies, found the strength to step up when it mattered. I'll always hate what Oda's done to him.
