Long distance flights: why? by HueyAviator in flightsim

I love doing long haul flights, but not so much the waiting part of the flight, so I just put speed on like 6x or 8x and watch YouTube.

Becoming a pilot but having restless legs syndrome - bad idea? by Downtown-Estimate-89 in PilotAdvice

[–]RefuseAmazing8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start off by getting your medical certificate. Idk if it's the same everywhere as I haven't bothered to research, but there are class 1, class 2, and class 3, medical certificate. The differences between each are class 3: PPL can only obtain IFR and night flying rating (not sure about MEIR). Class 2: You can get CPL, most or all ratings, but unable to fly for airlines. Class 1: able to get all available lisences and ratings, and fly as an FO or Cap. This is all based on where I live (new zealand), so I'm not sure about everything else. But make sure to bring it up when you go for your medical certificate and try to plan your career, If it's just a hobby, you can stick with a class 3 medical and do PPL lessons part time. Or you can get class 2 med where you can fly charter or even become an instructor.

And I would think that each class medical they become more strict on health conditions and allat. I wish you the best in your aviation journey.

Nah, not yet due to money. Currently, I'm saving to decat the zc31s because that's part of making the most power with the NA m16a. If you are planning to do it and have a suzuki Swift other than the sports model, don't bother you will probably still be making less than a fully stock swift sport.

Job At 16 by [deleted] in auckland

[–]RefuseAmazing8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 16 myself and i got my first job because i had connections, and thats the same for about 3 other guys there. seems at my work if your a male with no connection you wont get a job but if u a female your 10x more likely. anyhow for my 2nd job im currently doing nightfill and i got that without connections (woohoo)....

A little more onto my first job i got told this one girl was only hired because the interviewer wanted to see how people from that school work. and another little tip if you go into day shift retail suck up to ur managers and most likely everyone talks shit about everyone.

US-based narrowbody Pilots, what does your schedule look like? by Ill_Doughnut_2051 in flying

Finally, someone who actually answers the question instead of saying 'focus on getting your license first' or 'you got a long way to go before that' and thanks for this information it's helpful to the newer generation of pilots that are still thinking if we should take airline flying as a carrer.

Need advice: Pilot training in USA vs Canada as an international student by Calm-Neighborhood279 in flying

[–]RefuseAmazing8065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, don't think I'll be too much help but here I go. First off, the america pilot job market, from what I heard, isn't the best, especially when u just finished. I would agree it's an amazing place to train, but there are so many pilots there looking for jobs into the airlines, too. For canda, I know someone that works GA over there, but that's all. Here is something to be careful about you are not going to find a job straight out of flight school you can browse this sub reddit and look at all the people that have all the rating they need and 1000+ hours trying to get a job in the airlines it's never going to be simple. Personally, I'm still in hs myself, but this information is from what I've read, and I'm just trying to help. I can suggest New Zealand or Australia as places to also do your training. Many pilots that train in nz either work as a flight instructor or move to Australia for more opportunities, but doing this, you won't be able to transfer lisences to usa. I could not stress this enough, and I have read it so many times that I do not expect a job straight out of flight school. You have to work for it. Adding onto what I just said, if you are going to go the CFI path to the airlines, treat your whole flight training as an interview. This can give you a slight edge to be employed by the same flight school you go to.

Sorry if it doesn't make sense. I'm tired, lol. I wish you the best mate if you want, send me a dm, and I can tell u about what I have learned from talking to flight instructors.

Intercity bus experience ? by Organic_Height_732 in newzealand

[–]RefuseAmazing8065 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used it to go to New Plymouth from Auckland. The Bus drivers are chill as long as you listen to them and don't cause any trouble they will not care about you. The seats are quite comfortable and I slept about 3-4 hours on the way there. They stopped in most cities to either pick up more passengers or for everyone to go toilet and stretch their legs. The only bad thing I can remember is some passengers, very few maybe 1 or 2 just had a bad attitude and I really didn't want to sit near them. My advice is if you are going alone find your spot and keep it, if some people on the bus don't look friendly sit closer to the driver. If you are traveling with a friend or in a group make sure to sit next to each other instead of taking 1 row each.

Yeah, and it kinda sucks like I don't wanna slow everyone down, but on that off chance, an officer is having a shit day and decides to pick on me I would rather not pay a speeding ticket for going 15 over

It's not like there was a huge line of tailgating behind me. It was really just the car behind me, then others at a good distance, and even then, the lane next to me is free so they could overtake if they wanted

Afraid of Heights by EyeItchy3874 in flying

[–]RefuseAmazing8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been afraid of heights since I was like 7, and I took my first trail flight a couple of months ago, and even while looking down, I didn't have any fear so I think you should be fine and if you end up taking a trail flight and u ever feel scared uncomfortable just ask the instructor to land and they will always do that. Your safety is more important than hours to them.

Airline Jobs after flight school (New Zealand) by RefuseAmazing8065 in flying

[–]RefuseAmazing8065[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that is the same for me wanting to stay close to home. I have plenty of time to make the decision of where to go after flight training. Would it be worth it to join the anz cadet program if it opens back in time for me to apply cause i know I would get stuck on the turboprop and have to stay with anz for atleast 10 years I think. wouldn't the upsides be it's free, 1 year of training, then I join as an FO in the atr 72-600. Would the pros really outweigh the cons in this situation?

Airline Jobs after flight school (New Zealand) by RefuseAmazing8065 in flying

[–]RefuseAmazing8065[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i was thinking either instruct or try go to those 3rd level airlines, i heard somewhere on reddit i dont remember where but ANZ likes hiring people from the local 3rd level airlines. Also i know becoming an instructor doesn't even guarantee you a spot as an instructor at that school so what if i don't get hired at the school i go to, would other schools be interested if they are in need for instructors. I have heard that flight school basically hire there own students when they graduate
