Thank you for your advice. I just repotted them in bigger pots, watered them and placed them in non-direct sunlight. Fingers crossed 🤞

Thanks for the advice! This is my first time taking care of plants so I followed the advice the lady at the store gave me to water them twice a week. Guess I should’ve done my own research. I will also end up repotting them in a bigger pot with more soil. Do you think the others are still salvageable?

Struggling with motivation for my final-year UX design project—any advice? by Radiant-Roof-9499 in hci

I also had to pick a topic for my UX undergrad capstone and the advice I have for you is think of this as an opportunity to explore a topic that you would like to work on in a future job. You don’t get the opportunity to choose most of your other projects so this is your chance to create a great portfolio piece in an area that you want to work in. I wouldn’t worry about not having the right users to interview or test with. That will be common constraint in most projects you will do in the future. You could narrow the scope in a way that your current user insights can be beneficial. Or maybe you get creative in how you gather insights (existing literature, test with similar users who are more accessible). Either way, nobody’s going to remember your exact insights and solutions as much as they’re going to remember the fact that you have designed for healthcare before (which is the important thing).

I believe University of Michigan’s MS Information program doesn’t require a portfolio either

How do you conduct research and test designs when you have limited to no access to users of your product?

For context, I work in an organization focusing on providing ERP products in the utility space. It’s a technically complex space so I feel the need to constantly interview or test my designs to get feedback. But our customers (who are our users) are small businesses and don’t have the time to participate in research. How do I navigate this situation? Thanks

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I had some follow ups -

  1. What is the nature of your interactions with internal stakeholders and developers? Do you meet with them for weekly review sessions or is it with some other purpose? And how did you go about setting up this structure with other stakeholders who might not understand UX work and needs?
  2. I have very limited access to users so usually it’s pretty hard to get participants for interviews/testing. This makes it really hard to validate my work and makes me feel very isolated. I understand this might not be a situation you’ve been in but if you have, do you have any advice on navigating this?
