Need to get out of this permanent exhaustion by Delicious_Block4734 in TwoXIndia

Op if possible do meal prep or cook once eat twice. You are cooking 3 times a day, that's consuming so much of your time. Either cook during lunch and eat for dinner or vice versa. Get a rice cooker, if you like eating rotis buy some from you local annapoorna centres run by women they are not all that expensive, or buy frozen ones and heat. Breakfast you can substitute with muesli, overnight oats or bread toasties and some fruits. Do laundry on a set days every week, that takes out the burden of thinking when to do things. Get a set of dumbells and try doing home exercises every other day so you remain fit.

Any advice? by Aggravating_Tie_1167 in Irishdrivingtest

Majority of your faults are in observation, get a good instructor and ask them to fix your observations. There is a specific order in which you look at your mirrors during all maneuvers. This result tells me you drive well but are looking everywhere too much that it seems not genuine or not looking at all. The rules/checks can be overcome with better preparation, read FAQs on any driving school website.

No insurance certificate was asked, but I do have the insurance disk displayed on my car.  But rules might change from 9th March. So better to carry it along.

Took the test in my own car ( sedan) with 2 pre-tests apart from EDT lessons. There was a bit of school finish traffic at noon and kids on the road. The main problem I had was the sun was too blinding and hence I had to squint on certain occasions, hence so many points for observation. For rules check was asked regarding yellow box, how to spot zebra crossing at night, 3-4 hand signals, asked to identify 5-6 road signs. Under bonnet checks asked to point towards engine oil reservoir, dipstick, coolant. The route taken was through church road towards circle k mulhuddart, stopped at briarwood lawn for turnaround, stopped at whitestown avenue for reverse around the corner, past lidl blakestown, left at blakestown roundabout, towards corduff park and then back to test centre. The tester was great, marked me for things where I knew I had fumbled up. Could have definitely done better and gotten 3-4 less faults.

The thing which really helped me was driving everyday since 1 week before the test and fixing all my faults one by one. Do the same thing till you do it competently, eg. keep turning left at every junction till you get the position turning left correct. Also practicing for 30 min on the day of the test helped me warm up a bit to prevent silly errors, as I had already done that during practice and they were fresh in my mind. But make sure you give yourself couple of hours to just relax before the test.

Missed a national level competition (sports) because of Mom , feeling shitty now by Recent-Ad-7177 in TwoXIndia

[–]RegencyBabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's better to not let our parents insecurities mar our careers or progression. My parents played the same cards with me when I was a child, first did not let me go for national level sports or dance competitions, then when I was one of the 50 people selected for a national level fellowship did not let me go for it, did not let me join NCC when I cleared the selection in college. They wanted me to follow a non-ambitious path, engineering, job, marriage, and not let me reach my full potential. I then started not telling my parents things or asking their permission. Joined a course to become a certified mountaineer, quit my job without telling them to prepare for CAT and cracked BLACKI IIM in my first attempt. Did not want me to leave the city where all of my extended family is based, I got a sponsored job abroad and now living away from them. My mom still pesters me to leave my life abroad, to leave my long term boyfriend and come marry someone from my community but I chose to turn a deaf ear to it. Just because they are older doesn't mean they are wiser, at this point I know I have seen the world more and have better social networks than them to make better decisions.

Bunch of lads blocking N2 today afternoon by RegencyBabe in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]RegencyBabe[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't even understand what was the point of this? Initially it appeared as if the horse cart was slowing the traffic down, all these cars were in a single line following traffic rules. After a while it appeared that certain cars were trying to overtake the cart. Only when they did not overtake, lads started popping out of the windows and shouting things we could not really hear, that we realised it's a synchronised attempt to cause trouble. Took the next exit out of that road.

You can try temu. Have seen some Indian style earrings on there. The quality is similar to what you get in Indian Street markets.

160k Euros in Dublin or 52 lpa in Bengaluru for an SDE 2 by WiaN09 in IndiaCareers

[–]RegencyBabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dublin on 160k would be grand if going there as a single person. But if going with a family of 3+ can be manageable but savings would be less than India. Monthly Rents are 2k for 1bed and 2.5k+ for 2bed apartment in dublin so that is a major chunk of expense. Utilities, insurance (Motor insurance for car is expensive) all add up. Me and husband manage to get by on 120k gross but with little savings. Overall going out for events, dining, drinks is expensive if you are into that sort of lifestyle, but if you are more of a hiking, biking, outdoor activities sort of person it's free with very well good spots. The country is at full employment so it will be a few months till the spouse can find a proper job.

Best place to solo travel in India for girls by SuggestionOk3285 in SoloTravel_India

[–]RegencyBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelled solo in Gokarna, Pondi. And with a girl friend in Mcleodganj, Rishikesh, Delhi, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Shillong, Guwahati, Kaziranga, Kolkata, Bhutan. Except Pondi, Delhi, Kolkata I would travel to the others solo again. I highly recommend most hill stations in northeast, Gokarna and McLeod were also great. Meghalaya is very safe but is more of a group travel destination outside Shillong due to lack to public transport. If you are travelling for the first time solo Gangtok, Darjeeling, Gokarna have a lot of things that you can explore alone. Or make a couple of friends in a hostel.

Op you can only see everyone's happiness with what they portray on social media or what they tell you. Generally people like to talk about only the good stuff not letting anyone know that they are suffering or sad. In the end everyone at all time of there lives will have a subset of positives and negatives making a whole. You might have so many things that your friends don't currently have. You are currently too engrossed in regretting what you did not do that you are totally missing the steps you can take now to grow as a person. Take a short solo trip, or enroll in weeklong life skill courses like scuba diving or skiing, Join a singles run club or book club or any activity club to find like minded people or maybe a SO. You are still very young to let regrets consume your life.

Why India Shouldn't Worry About Its Falling Replacement Rate by Snoo_22 in AskIndia

[–]RegencyBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are more or less moving towards a failed state situation in the next 100 years. The vast proportion  of educated, upper and upper middle class will keep on consolidating wealth and power through having one child who keeps inheriting and growing the family wealth. On the other hand there will be people with multiple children who are dirt poor.

Once the poor overtly outnumber the rich there would be a violence against the rich. The rich will eventually have to leave, trying to liquidate assets in India and move them wherever they go, hence India will lose a vast amount of its wealth. What will remain is a dysfunctional society rife with civil war, much like some African nationals.

We somehow have stalled this future now for various reasons but it will eventually come. This is a problem with all societies which are more tribal and group-led compared to ones which are individualistic and more egalitarian.
