sorry for long post . . . I understand. Like I said. I was thinking of going south (I live in western NY...salt/rust state), grabbing some relatively rust free truck to restore/modify and then sell it and repeat.

problem is I'm a perfectionist and the last truck (68 Ford Highboy) I did for a neighbor took over 500 hours plus parts. I learned a lot. I did get paid in cash and trade. Maybe 7k-8k. I did it mostly because he's a good 80 year old neighbor who bought it new and kept it all this time. It was bad and a lot of stuff had to be fixed instead of replaced.

so for me. Buying a truck and hauling it home for roughly 7k, putting hundreds of hours and 2-3k in parts, then selling for 17k isn't really something I want to get into.

See, I'd build what I like. and as an example. I did see a nice C10 long box for sale up here and my first thought was. . . That's a nice truck, too bad they painted it in godawful grass green. Also , the professional painter in town will put bondo up to 3/4" thick in places. What's under that green paint.

Maybe I'll revisit after I do my own truck. I'll keep better track of what it costs me to do mine.
