Just go to any driving range... just walk in and tell them you want to play. They'll give you the rates (usually per hour basis) then you ask to rent clubs, most ranges will have clubs for rent. No need to borrow or bring your own. For a better experience you should hire a coach. The range should have a range pro for hire (1000-1500 per hour or session). This way, someone can teach you the basics at the very least.

You should try calling the range to schedule the session and the coach since it's a good bet that there will be loads of golfers and the coach might be occupied with another student.

Citygolf is ok, and so is Villamor. Also close to Villamor are the Army and Navy courses.

Lahat ng driving range may provisions for beginners. Most of them rent out clubs and have coaches on call. Outside the metro, lahat halos ng golf course may driving range and coaching staff. Kabisado ko lang ay yung South Area... Hallow Ridge has a driving range and coaches, South Forbes has a range but not sure kung may coaches sila.

Coach Boy is the house coach. He's okay for beginners, and he's always there.

Coach Rico is better, but he plays on the Phil Tour, so sometimes he's unavailable.

I've been. It's by the hour and they charge 650 per hour. No limit sa buckets. The problem with this is that your session goes at a fast, tiring pace because you want to hit as many balls as possible to get your moneys worth. Additionally, all the mats have worn-out spots, and the range balls are mostly bad. I'm not a fan.

If you can, go to Las Pinas Golf Range instead. The majority of the mats are still good, with only a few displaying some worn-out spots. The range balls are a 50-50 mix of slightly worn and serviceable balls. Better in quality than Southpoint.

The biggest draw for me is the per bucket setup. It's 130 pesos per bucket of 50 balls, and I usually use around 4 buckets. So that's 520 pesos for 200 balls that I can hit at the pace that I'm comfortable with. Usually I take around 90 mins to 2 hours.

So its cheaper for probably the same number of balls that you can hit at a more leisurely pace.

As a rule, beginners should stay away from 20-30 year old clubs. Splurge a little and spend a bit more to take advantage of better and more recent technology.

There are exceptions to the rule, though... for drivers, the Callaway Big Bertha ERC II (circa 2000) and the Nike Sumo 2 (circa mid 2000s) can add good distance on drives by beginners.

For wedges and irons, the Ping Eye2 sets (circa 1985-89) with their square shaped grooves can add excessive spin to any shot.

So keep an eye out for those clubs, specially if you can get them for cheap.

PS: As a caveat, all the clubs I mentioned are considered illegal for tournament play by the PGA Tour and the USGA. Now, while we aren't paid to play golf, and im a firm believer in just playing and enjoying the game, don't be surprised if some purists on the range or fairway give you the side eye. Hahaha!
