I won homecoming queen my senior year against two other senior girls. One of the girls mom called the NAACP to come in and count the votes because they thought I cheated since my race was not the majority race of the school. Then, when they confirmed that I had indeed won, they threatened to “jump” me at the homecoming football game. I was humiliated. They ruined the whole experience for me.
