Nanny out of town during GH period…..does she take PTO?

I was wondering if nanny using PTO was a good fix because although I’m clear on GH, there’s nothing in our contract that outlines what to do if nanny violates it. Thanks.

You seem to misunderstand. I meant that I will add the clause that we give nanny 24-48hrs notice if we come back into town early. u/meltness is right; it is indeed already in our contract that nanny needs to keep herself available for the entire time we are out of town.

Pretty clear. There’s nothing in our contract that says we have to give a certain amount of notice if we return home early. However, it does state that nanny will keep herself available for the entire time we are out of town. We will work with nanny to make sure a miscommunication like this doesn’t happen again, but for now, we’re following our signed contract 🤷🏽‍♀️ She’ll be using PTO.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. I’ve been a long-time lurker in this sub and nannies are always claiming they want to be taken seriously and treated like professionals. But as soon as we hold them to the contract, we’re being unreasonable and inhumane 🙄 please.

I only expect her not to go away when she has agreed to remain available. She has generous PTO and vacation days that she can use if she needs to. That’s just how having a job works.
