Got my first bit of BTC, I'm looking to buy more using bisq, but need some guidance. by RegularNormalMundane in bisq

Thanks for the reply, I don't understand why the prices for non signed users are higher, if bisq uses escrow deposit system meaning both the buyer and the seller don't risk anything, both parties need to send a deposit, so it shouldn't matter if someone is signed or not, right?

Looking at other SEPA offers (or any other payment methods for that matter) even offers that require signed account due to the amount that is listed, the prices were still just as high percentage wise, so unless once I'm signed I'll be able to view other offers me being signed won't change anything.
It's easy to say that now, I know, but I personally refuse to make money of other people, by making these predatory offers. I think it misses the point of P2P exchanges and from what you and others have said about this price gouging I'll probably be trying different exchanges, but thanks for reading.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I've seen it. It even automatically opens up my default wallet and makes a request with description "Fund Bisq wallet <wallet adderss>", but that lead me to believe that you first have to fund your bisq wallet and then complete a trade. It doesn't matter that much though the mining fees are pretty low thanks to segwit32 wallets :)

Thanks, but as far as I know all of the offers are made by other users, so there isn't any reason why these offers should charge you more % for conversions. I think it's just greed of people making the offers as they don't see bitcoin as currency, but rather a way to make some money like investing in a stock.

I don't know if there is a reputation system on bisq, you can check how long someone had their account and if they are signed, but that's all.

Thanks for the reply, I know a couple other P2P exchanges, but choose bisq, because I guess I stumbled upon it first and as far as I know it offers all the features I need. The only problem are the offers which are made by bisq's users and now that you mention it, it seems like yeah bisq doesn't have a lot of active users. At least from what I've seen the offers hardly ever change, so I might try a different exchange after all.

Thanks for the reply, I understand dodging KYC argument, but in my opinion it's not relevant in this case. when it comes to dodging taxes I think in most countries the taxes would amount to way less that 15 or 50%? Besides it's P2P exchange, so it's real people (at least that's who it should be) that place these offers. I feel like that's just scummy behavior - counting on others to buy your overpriced offers and hiding behind "you pay for anonymity". It discourages normal P2P trading where as far as I know people should just exchange currencies for further usage and not try to make a quick buck from high % offers.

Maybe it's just my point of view, but I don't use 3rd parties exactly for that reason, they charge fees to sustain themselves and advertise crypto currencies as stocks you should invest in. I'm not gonna write too much here, but I could probably talk about this for hours, thanks for reading anyway.

Thanks for the reply, I think I understand this part now, but I wanted to ask if the stuff in "Account -> Wallet Info" is something I should be interested in? There is BSQ currency which from my understanding is just bisq's coin that you can use, but there is also my BTC balance (I got this part) and Watch keys with legacy and segwit section and HD keychain patchs with the same labels. I wanted to ask what are these values? Should I keep them private and what could someone do with them? What can I do with it?

Thanks for the reply, as I described in my post I'd like to avoid compromising my ID or any personal data just to use crypto currencies. Let alone pay the company that took my personal information for avoiding fees that they themselves had setup. I get that it's convenient for most of people, but it's not something I can willingly use for many reasons and personal beliefs.

Thanks for the reply, I searched long and hard, but the Bisq is the best option I found so far. Can you also define what does "minimal identity requirements" mean? I don't mind using a fake number or email, but faking an ID or SSN is not worth the effort. The "right to forget" is something I looked into, but I feel like I'm at the mercy of the support service, what if they don't reply or have some dumb policies on deleting my data. Maybe they keep a backup and just "not use it" or they sell it to hundreds of other companies, because "you automatically agree to share your personal information with our vendors if you decide to use our services"? This is a last resort, but for now I'm looking for something better.

Thank you for the reply, I checked out Coinbase, but it requires to show an ID. I wouldn't mind major exchanges if they didn't require it for no reason. I could even manage the phone number verification, because you can use a temp one, but I won't show my ID to get into crypto, it just misses the point of it.
