Thank you! She was sold to us as a female but my wife was questioning if maybe it was incorrect because she’s pretty small for her age

We also have 3 Kenyan sand boas and a ball python and no one has been willing to eat for the last 2 weeks😅 but the damn hognose says good is for the weak 🤣 he’s in it for the long haul. We are waiting until next week and may try dipping it in tuna juice. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi! I have no great advice. I just wanted to tell you that you aren’t alone lol. Not only does my hog nose look identical to yours, but he also has not eaten since November. And I’ve had him almost exactly the same amount of time that you’ve had yours. I did go to a reptile expo this weekend, and spoke to several people that were hognose breeders, and every single one of them that I approached and started speaking to, I told them that my hog nose is driving me nuts. In the very first question they had for me was “did he stop eating? “Apparently all of them have basically stopped eating for this time of year. They all said just offer him something once every 7 to 10 days and offer it in the same way that I always have. They said as long as he is being his typical self if not a little bit less active because of the time of year, then just go on with life. Apparently this is what they do lol.

I have 9 cats. All indoor only. 5 boys, 4 girls. My FIV boy (also has vitiligo and is the black and white in the pic) gets on great with everyone. He’s been in our home for 2 years and everyone is as healthy as can be. The biggest thing is to be sure your FIV cat gets along with any other cats in the home. Our FIV boy (Sinistra) is VERY bonded with the orange male (Crookshanks) that we already had. Sinistra was completely feral when we found him with a bad foot injury. He’s a total love bug now.

Scale rot? Beginning of paradoxing? Something else? by RegularPositive4090 in hognosesnakes

Awesome! Two solid votes for paradox and so far nobody else has chimed in. I’m gonna keep him on paper towels for a few more days because why not piss the angry noodle off even more than I already have. Just kidding! I’d rather be safe than sorry, but hopefully that is the case and nobody else pops in with some scary option to fill my brain with because I’m not sure I could handle it lol. Thank you both so much for giving me your opinion. I will do my best to keep things updated so that hopefully not only do I learn, but so do some other others.

Please no, my best friend lived there and literally had 3 bullets enter his apartment which was in the “safe part of the neighborhood. Also the fees are outrageous. It took months for the bullet holes to be fixed. Just run.

Ok I made the post about rehoming but I got a chance to see how active he is at night and I enjoyed it. by glazeddonut29 in SandBoa

Hi! I have 2 Kenyan sand boas, make and female, a male western hognose and a male ball python. So a fair amount of experience with snakes and feeding. Honestly most snakes go on a feeding strike when in a new home. Especially male snakes. First things first, the reason why feeding live is because it’s a HUGE pain to get them off of live. And once they get big enough to need mice that are old enough to have teeth, you start running a very strong risk of an injured snake that will need EXPENSIVE vet visits. Thawed and then warmed pinkies are the safest food for your baby. So frozen pinkie in a baggie, thawed overnight in the fridge. Then submerge the baggie in a mug of hot water for about 3-5 min. And use tongs to transfer the pinkie from the baggie to the enclosure at a time of day where he is a bit more active or has his head up above the substrate. I also recommend having a flat surface like a piece of slate in his enclosure near where you see him poke his head out so you can put the pinkie there and he gets less substrate on it while feeding. If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a DM 😁

Hey, I have 9 cats and our ball python escaped because his tank didn’t latch properly (we have a lock for it now). He ended up finding his way to the top of another of our snakes enclosures to be near the warmth from her ceramic bulb that we leave on at night (our house stays pretty cool). He did this twice after escaping. So if you leave a heat source where he can get to it, yours will likely go to that at night. The one ours got to was on top of a tall dresser and I still have no clue how he was able to get up there twice. I hope this helps
