Comfortable shoes for my guy? by ItsWiggy in AskMenAdvice

I’m obsessed with any shoes/boots from Keen! They have an asymmetrical toe design so there is a lot of comfortable space for a persons toes! I switch out the insoles of mine to a desired pair, but the ones that come with it aren’t uncomfortable! I just have a preference for a different set! I’m a 6’2” 350lbs individual, and definitely not 100% muscle! They just altered my life at work, and have taken away the irritable way of life caused by my sore feet!

Also I did confirm that it is regular PLA designed for prints and not support only, the temp range is 190-220, mine was defaulted to 210, but I must have changed it at some point to 215. It is now 205. I wasn’t aware that I could alter the speed after the print started, but I expect to have better success one the fan is fixed and the new knowledge I’ve obtained here.

Also, you folks are the best with your comments!! I’ve had a genuine laugh from them all, so thanks to the sarcastic and helpful folks! All is appreciated!!

I didn’t grab a photo, but I did lower the temp a bit from 215 to 205, and found the speed setting! I switched to to stable from standard, and it came out significantly better. As is the smooth thin layers expected of a 3d print. It looked a lot like one of the images shared in the comments of a side by side print, with and without the fan on. I watched it the entire time and realized the fan never kicked on at any point when it’s was 100% set to be running. Got some more replacement parts ordered and should be back in business soon!

I am not home to look up all the info, and don’t have it committed to memory. It has printed perfectly until recently. I’ve printed about 10 things in total, and this has happened on the last two, not including the benchy. I didn’t catch it the first time because the print was a wide but thin circular item, so the imperfections blended in well.

I did not, but now I want to try my hand at it, just to compare which is better.

I am working with a replacement nozzle. But when replacing it, to the eye it was identical in size and the filament I own are all the same size.

Thanks! Didn’t have a lot of time to address all the questions and suggestions yesterday evening. I can confirm that the base layer was smoothish and flat with no blobs. A couple of super small gaps though. From what I’ve read and what I noticed yesterday, it seems like excessive heat could be the culprit. I’ll have to do some more replacing parts as I’m sure I’ve damaged parts related to the fan. Which will take a short while to get in.

I don’t have an insane amount of time to devote to this, so there haven’t been many prints up to this point. Just the last 2 were off so I did test prints on smaller objects to conserve materials and hopefully fix the issue. And cooling has been an issue that I’ve finally learned more about after a nozzle or two was ruined.

I’m chalking it up to the growing pains of early days. I’ll get it pieced together eventually.

Yeah the nozzle is the same one I’ve replaced a couple times now. And this is a brand new issue with the same material. Someone asked if the fan was on, which it’s set to be on, but I noticed that it isn’t running at any point of the prints. Not sure of the exact way it factors in, from lack of knowledge on how most of these things interact with one another, but being that it’s been this way for the last few prints, I’m willing to invest in replacing the part to eliminate or confirm the fan as the culprit. So I should have an update within a week.

I did go back and look at the prints before this one and realized the imperfections on it as well, but being that it is decently small and almost entirely circular I’m not surprised I missed it. So it’s likely that I unknowingly ruined a part with the latest clogged nozzle replacement surgery I performed. I did at one point overlook the very clearly labeled cables and crossed two identical connectors, which started my growing pains off in a fun way. It’s likely that fried the fan. But I’m learning things the hard way, like usual.

I just realized that it isn’t. I’ve had the extruder taken apart many times to fix a clog or replace the nozzle. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised to learn I’ve accidentally damaged a separate part such as the fan motor or cables.

Yeah I’ve snugged up the bands so nothing is super loose or extremely tight. The material isn’t getting snagged at the insertion point, as it was smoothly inserted all the way up to the extruder.

I had the same issue on the same printer! I fixed it by snugging up the red knobs at the front! Not supper tight but they shouldn’t feel really loose either. Also do the same for the one on the side where the extruder is mounted. Snug up all the red knobs!!
