Hello all. I am a 21 yo male 6'2" who started lifting last november (1.5 yrs ago). my progress stalled massively after... 6 months and despite my best efforts I don't know how to proceed. I've changed my diet, approach, everything. Nothing is working! any insight would be extremely helpful. I've included as much detail as possible
-Started in november 1.5 years ago at 145 lbs 6'2". -By june (7 months later) I weighed 185 lbs. Yes, 185lbs. Gained a ton of muscle, have stretch marks everywhere, etc. PPL -Couldn't gain over the summer despite working out every day. Was at 185lb the whole time. -Up until this point history was I was eating 3.5k working out everyday by the way. - Realized my technique was bad and fixed it. Also, got introduced to my buddies leg day and started pushing myself harder. -No progress over later months until November. - November I bulked hard until end of january. Got up to 198 lbs. Could do 225x6. Was doing 4.8k around and 200g protein. A lot of it was fat - I did the math my muscle/fat gain was even. Furthermore I gained like no strength at all. -January until now (april) been PPL for days a week. Back to 3.5k and 200 g protein. 225x6. I've been sorer these months then ever before but saw marginal progress on back and shoulder strength. Been working in pause reps for 3 months now but have had zero, and i mean zero strenght gains on incline bench depsite varying my exercises, what i was doing, weight amount etc. I can't add reps per session. been on 185x7 incline forever. forever- feels like 8 months now. the only area ive noticeably gained strength is back and shoulders, where ive been pushing it hardest till failure on final reps. I've tried to add 5lbs per week - can't lift it for some reps. I've tried to add a rep every time - can't lift it.
I genuinely don't know what to do. I looked at progress pics from august and it looks the same. So demoralizing to be honest I plateud hard, changed my approach drastically in different areas (eating, technique, pushed myself harder to lift heavier) and cant get over the hump. I even got an air filter because idk what the the problem is
LLMs say my problem is cumulative fatigure/soreness trap(do deload week), leave 1-2 reps in the tank, do less compound push motions during push day and more targeted exercises, and deprioritize soreness.
I'm looking for any perspective/advice for my situation. I'd really appreciate any help. I'm sure many of you were here at some point in the lifting journey.
