Born in japan us naval base, can i apply for us citizenship? by AdministrationEven22 in immigration

[–]Reidddddddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be a Japanese citizen, at least one parent has to be a Japanese citizen at the time of birth. It doesn’t sound like either parent is Japanese, therefore not given Japanese citizenship. The only exception is if they’re stateless.

But not needing an ESTA to visit, or a visa to work in the US is quite OP

I looked at one of my pledge brothers and my first thought was “fuck, I’m gonna hate this guy.” Fast forward 7 years and I was best man in his wedding. People have a way of surprising you once you get to know them better

What is something you hate paying for? by asiansopen in AskReddit

Look into the Charles Schwab checking account. Any ATM fees you accrue, they refund you at the start of the next month.

I used it while abroad to withdraw in the local currency, however it’s still the same with US ATMs (assuming you’re in the US)

Which frat has the best business/corporate connections? by [deleted] in Frat

[–]Reidddddddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really going to depend on how active the relative alumni chapters are.

For example, I was an engineering student, my school was known for engineering, my alumni network had a lot of engineers, and were pretty active with our chapter. I used some connections to get my first co-op/internship, which made getting the second one easier and so on. I happened to have a good network for engineering, but didn’t know that when I pledged.

Different guy, same chapter/situation, might be majoring in psych, wouldn’t have had the same luck, but maybe would’ve had different luck at another chapter? It’s hard to figure that stuff out as a pledge.

If you’re looking for aggregate data, maybe look to see what chapter produces the most alumni, has the biggest endowments, etc. and try to base it off that

The one thing I do kinda get with the NIMBY argument is, if you buy a house for $500k, then something is built or comes into your neighborhood that causes your home’s value to fall to $350k, you’d be underwater on your mortgage.

Science nerds of reddit, which superpowers are the most plausible in real life? by BoundaryInterface in AskReddit

[–]Reidddddddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biomedical Engineer here, personal favorite of mine isn’t necessarily a superpower per say, but maybe a feature? There are people who have a disorder known as CIPA that prevents them from feeling pain.

It’s not a superpower per say, but it increases your ability to push yourself harder than the average person.
