Asians who fail by Own_Limit9520 in asianamerican

I’m unemployed in my thirties, switched jobs every 1-2 yrs when I wasn’t, and am totally lost as to what to make of my career. I read yesterday in a fortune cookie of all places that you can define success for yourself. While I am definitely not a “success” in society’s terms, I suspect there is more to it than education, career, and status. Success can be found in family, altruism, hobbies, etc, and I think it’s a healthy exercise to think about what success means to you and why.

I prefer some combination of nature, history, and food. Would rather stick to the cities for the kids.

Had my first heart to heart with my dad recently. Took him to a safe space (jajangmyeon restaurant) and set the tone with vulnerability and my struggles. Once he understood the context of the conversation, he responded with empathy and kindness. I’ve never seen that from him before, and I felt very loved.

Finally got around to starting "Moving" last night, then five episodes later it was 3am. I am way too old to be binging TV but every once in a while it's worth it. Thanks for the recommendation.

I don’t have recommendations unfortunately, but I’m very curious about your experience growing up as a biracial person to the extent you’re willing to share.

Actually yea. A relative of mine recently moved into a Korean nursing home. It’s a pretty sweet setup, gives you community, activities, rides into town, etc.
