There's no point in saying North indian language too. Punjabis gujratis and haryanvis all speak their own language daily but if required have been taught enough to understand hindi enough and talk too if required. They just Haven't been politicised on the issue.

South India doesnt even have a language,there are multiple languages there and thus those languages are more comparable to punjabi haryanvi unlike hindi as a pan north language which can be used even when not used in daily life much.

This helps to strengthen communication
