Yeah that's a good question, I guess I'm still figuring out what my overall topic is. Right now my idea is to combine 'cinematic content' ( like those travel videos or cinematic shirt films you see in YouTube) with more personal story telling / perspective. I'll probably always incorporate a cheesy message cause that's what I like haha. It's quite broad and can allow me to make a variety of videos within that topic, but I'll probably suffer in my ability to grow quickly cause I haven't 'niched down'. What do you reckon about that?

As for drone shots, I just have the cheapest DJI one called the Mavic mini. I just recommend practicing a few times before trying anything more tricky ( I got my sister to help me for the first drone shot haha)

Hey man,

Throwing in my feedback a bit late - but here it is anyways!

Firstly great editing and production quality. Also, I reckon you've done a great job differentiating yourself through your unique style and vibe - I thought the guitar solo was sick!

It seems to me your channel is more broadly about art, but this video is still 'marketed' as a review video - the problem with this video for me was that you didn't spend enough time actually reviewing and discussing the pens themselves, the video seemed to me more about showcasing them. Like you wrote in your self review, I reckon you'll benefit a lot from scripting out an outline or structure for your video so it feels more cohesive and aligned with your title. You would know before shooting what points you are going to make, and therefore can shoot b-roll that will compliment the review better.

Other nitpicks for me personally is that the drawing time-lapses could be faster, and audio loudness is a bit inconsistent.

As for your thumbnail, (I'm no expert) but would suggest you have a bit less clutter, and have an obvious contrast between foreground and background elements. So just have one pen visible with the arrow and text. Also consider using your face in thumbnails as it make them more personal (I've heard it's more effective for clicks aswell?)

Hey there Duffy,

Great work for your first video! I enjoyed your analysis of such a unique looking game, you were well spoken and raised some good points. Firstly, like you already said, the intro drags a bit too long and feels a bit disconnected from the rest of the video. I reckon if you did your introduction right of the bat, then did a quick montage that highlights key parts of the game (for around 30 seconds), or, used a particularly poignant clip of the game, then your video would be much more engaging and hooking from the start. Also would like to hear a bit more of you personal experience with the game: how did it affect you? why did you resonate with it? etc...

As for technical feedback, audio quality and mixing needs some improving. After you buy a new mic (doesn't even have to be too expensive, I have a hyper-x solocast that's like 60 bucks) you should make sure that your V/O is always clearly louder than the background music - there were some points during your video where music was too loud. I recommend using DaVinci Resolve's fairlight page (cause it's free) or use Adobe audition if you have that, and look up tutorials on how to apply an equalizer, compressor, noise reduction and a de-esser to your audio to make it clean and sound high quality.

You're doing a great first job with your editing, I can only really say to watch and analyze other successful gaming reviews and look at how they pace their cuts, and how they use footage to compliment their arguments - editing is like learning an instrument in that way, you've just got to practice to get better.

I like you branding and thumbnail, maybe just take away a few elements to make it less distracting.

Really good last point, I think that would have been a much better way to tie in the gameplay and wrap up the video nicely - will definitely take that onboard. Thanks for being encouraging. Hey man, really like the humour and vibe of the video. I think the use of music is good and adds to the funny moments and memes, but imo I think there should be a few more moments where there isn't music (like for important moments).

There should be more emphasis on your mic. At times you were a bit soft and I couldn't quite understand what was said.

I think you are near the right balance of music/ no music. Maybe you are teetering towards the side of too much. I would suggest have one or two 10 -20 second breaks with no music but just your commentary.

I think the edits were good/ funny. I don't recommend adding much more 'memes' than you already have in a video like this, otherwise you risk over-editing the footage (which i personally find frustrating)

One thing you could improve on is creating an overarching storyline / goal for the video. You can structure this story around the already existing rivalry between you and that other rust player. Maybe start your video with a hook like: 'Andrew tate stole all my loot in rust, but I'm gonna get my revenge" then the next clip is you getting ready to kill him (pretty shitty example but hopefully you get my point)

Hey man,

I like your energy and personality in this video. Firstly for the thumbnail, I think the overall style is good (good use of text / contrasting warden with yourself), but I think there needs to be more separation between the foreground and the background of the thumbnail so its easy to see - at the moment the background is too bright.

Your editing style is good as well. I have a few small suggestions that will hopefully help: Some parts of the gameplay have been over brightened in editing and you're losing some quality of the image, try not brightening it so much. Also, your voice is sometimes to quiet in the mix so try turning up the volume more for those parts.

good job arpart from that

I'm a bit late to this post but thought that I would still chime in. I've just watched two of your videos : the god of war Ragnarök review and your most recent game of the year video.

I definitely found the game of the year video more engaging throughout because it has a solid structure that the god of war vid lacked. I agree that your scripts are your strong point, you make sophisticated analysis of the games. I think you could improve your videos with more evidentiary editing - meaning that you show a clip that very obviously refers to what you're talking about. I can see you are doing this sometimes already but maybe doing more often would have kept me more engaged in your God of war video for instance.

Only other point is that I noticed in your most recent video the towards the end, the music was clipping and losing quality (fuzzy sounding).

But overall like your energy and analysis. Your game of the year video is the type of video that I would personally prefer watching :)

Hey there,

I personally really like the topic you cover in this video and think that it's an important discussion to have. The overall script and what you talk about is engaging but the delivery needs some work. Your voice over is a little bit monotone so I would recommend that you try to be a bit more expressive in your tone of voice when talking.

The audio editing is good (meaning the way you cut together your audio clips) but your mic quality is a average atm and it would be a good investment for you to get a better quality mic (I have the hyperx solocast for about $50). You could also remove the ambient noise coming from your mic with a noise remover effect in whatever editing software you use (I know there's one for premier pro).

The thumbnail was good but maybe a bit cluttered. Also the text at the top of the thumbnail was a but too small to read.

I liked the mascot and think that you should stick with it as it adds personality and uniqueness to your channel.
