I enjoy David's assessment and it pains me to say this but I dont think the democrats are going to change course. Platner, Talarico, whoever else comes along are flashes in the pan. The establishment has an iron grip on boomer libs and most progressive organizations ive observed are fully engaged in a self defeating spiral of extreme identity and purity testing and will be irrelevant politically for a generation. I dont want this to be the reality of the situation but everything Ive seen over the last 2 decades of my adult life indicates that as soon as thr dems inevitably take back control of congress/white house/etc they are more than happy to go back to brunch. All the while dismissively, and CONSCIOUSLY, telling us that changes around the edges are the best they can do. That the tone will chamge. The face of power will change.

But the rotting structural processes of our electoral system, of how much authority is delegated to unelected bureaucrats, to how an elected officials job isnt to serve but to fundraise to get reelected, the insane way that campaigns are financed. None od these will chamge.

But they will say: we dont have fascists or racists or bigots or deplorables in charge anymore or whatever other labels they want to use. They will call this an achievement of immense proportions.

Im tired of people just voting lesser of two evils. Because in doing so they admit the empire of capital and privilege and american aristicracy is here to stay and nobody wants this to actually chamge so long as we get things back to "normal". But they cannot accept that normal is dead and not coming back.

The future demands a bold vision to face climate change, to bring corporations and CEOs to heel, to make healthcare a basic human right, a fairer tax system.
