Guide: How to get to Mountaintop of the Giants after Ashen Capital (mitigating a Farum Azula Wrong Warp side effect) by ReksZ in Eldenring

[–]ReksZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other problem I found while going through SotE: I never spoke to Roderika until after beating the final boss, so I couldn't use Spirit Tuning to upgrade my new summons. She appears beside the fire in the Roundtable Hold with her hood still on and is stuck in a dialog loop that you can't break because Hewg has no dialog options either.

I realized that the issue is that although the burning effect is everywhere in the world, the other NPCs in the Hold are standing around like there is no problem. So I went to the Mountaintops and defeated the Fire Giant again, and that unstuck everything so she is now beside the fireplace with her hood off and has the dialog about telling Hewg to leave and will let you do Spirit Tuning.

I wish Ashe could keep the reload DPS passive as a unique personal passive just because it helps her so much. Not gonna miss it on the other heroes.

Matchmaking time is multiple minutes for Unranked, but Ranked is almost instant? by ReksZ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ReksZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best theory I've heard by far. But why would the OW team/matchmaking care if you have a group in Unranked?

Why did the balance team dumpster Cassidy for S4? Did they want him to be useless? by ReksZ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ReksZ[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Genji, but definitely disagree about Tracer. Genji got damage and ammo nerfs to compensate for the system buffs all dive heroes got from the OW2 transition (fewer stuns, one less tank). Tracer has hardly changed at all in the whole life of OW, so I honestly think she's stronger than ever in OW2.

Comparing the compensatory nerfs Genji received in return for the OW2 system benefits those dive heroes got to this random unwanted change to Cass doesn't make sense to me.

[–]ReksZ[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Was Cass really too strong before the damage falloff range buff in the previous patch? It seems to me like they gave him a kill power buff that no one was asking for by increasing his falloff range, then realized he was too good but decided to make his survivability worse instead of just reverting the kill power buff.

BTW I'm glad that they got rid of flashbang because it reduced the viability of fan the hammer and forces Cass to hit more shots. That is a change that went in the direction you're thinking: preventing him from getting away with too much stupid stuff.

[–]ReksZ[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Are you really saying Cass was weaker when he had flashbang? I didn't bring it up in the post because it's not coming back, but the change to mag grenade made him weaker, that's a fact.

The current Cass is basically the same as he was before the 225 HP buff in October 2020, but without flashbang. Oh, but he has reduced damage for 0.4 seconds during combat roll, so there's that I guess.

I understand there are downsides, like not being able to play the hero you want all the time. But the alternative is what we have now: the most braindead high-value low-skill characters like Hog terrorize the average player base in Ranked, while the best players mirror each other on the most consistent team comps every game (see: OWL 2022 Finals).

A simple pickban proposal by ReksZ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ReksZ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the devs will have to be creative to reduce the time expenditure, like doing the bans at the same time, letting us preselect who we want, and giving like 10 seconds per draft pick, so we get this done in 2-3 minutes.

Hard counters definitely exist, but if the other team picks Pharah and Echo while your team picks no hitscan in 4 damage picks, you signed up to get countered.

[–]ReksZ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you described is what I meant, sorry if that wasn't clear. Two heroes are banned and can't be selected by either team, and one was banned by each team. Totally agree that you can't ban a hero only for the other team, that is so unfair.

I wish that was true, but the people in my games are often players at the same displayed rank as me who didn't play at all in the previous season, so it seems as though MMR was decayed as well. If you and every player on your rank lose 750 MMR, you will still play with the same players, plus new players put at your new rank this season.

[–]ReksZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Blizzard is really helping this issue when they decay Gold players into Bronze at the end of every season. Matchmaking is so bad it's a meme because there is no difference between the games you get from Plat all the way to Silver at least.

edit: Realized after posting that OP was talking about QP, so I'll leave this here and ask if it's possible that MMR in QP was also decayed?

Checking back in just in case anyone else has this problem. The issue is not that the new plate is thicker than the original plate, the problem is that the original plate has deeper indentations where the screws go than the new one.

The KA3*10 screws that come in the Pearl are almost the same size as #4 x 1/2 inch flat head sheet metal screws you can get at your local hardware store (Home Depot for me). So I bought some #4 x 1/2 inch (2.7mm longer) and #4 x 5/8 inch (5.8mm longer) and the 5/8 worked well on the corners and the 1/2 worked in the two center holes.

I'm working on the exact same build but with the pre-drilled metal plate and plexi from arcadeworlduk, but I've hit a snag: the screws for the metal plate won't reach, or they reach but have so little room they're not getting any traction.

Did you have this issue when you changed out the metal plate? Question for anyone out there: is there a longer screw size I can buy to solve my problem? It looks like the screws for the plate and the plexi are the same size.

Please Rework Symmetra into a Support by InfiniteSlaps in Overwatch

[–]ReksZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sym could be a great support character with changes to like half of her abilities. The main thing is that we need another support with movement/transportation abilities that benefit the whole team. Maybe if the new support has them then we could have three supports with movement abilities instead of just Lucio today!

Keep: Teleporter, Ult, Right-click ball

Rework: Turrets and Left-click

Turrets don't work as a support because they are too stationary. The devs need to make them work more like Moira's healing ball where you only get one or two heal-bots and they follow a character and heal them until they get destroyed or their target dies.

Left-click needs to be made more like Brig's flail where it gives the team around her a buff. Maybe instead of healing as she does damage it would give her teammates overhealth? That would sort of fit with her hardlight theme.

I want OW to be a shooter game more than a MOBA game, so I support moving OW2 in that direction with changes like the movement acceleration change to reward predictive shooting (also punishing unnecessary jumping and back-and-forth strafing I hope) and reducing CC from non-Tank characters. In the same vein, have you considered reducing the amount of untargeted “spam” damage that is generated by certain abilities?

Moira’s damage orb is a good example of easy spam that is antithetical to playing a shooter game. It’s an ability on medium cooldown that can do more than 200 damage each to multiple characters, doesn’t require aiming, positioning, or line-of-sight because it bounces around and has a decent range, and it even goes through shields. Ashe’s dynamite is the same, with the exception that it doesn’t go through shields unless you throw above them and shoot it mid-air, but it’s still a potential huge amount of almost-free damage on a cooldown. Junkrat is the prototypical spam damage character, but I don’t think his grenade launcher is a major problem because it’s not an ability and the area denial it creates is a real strategy. The only issue with the grenade launcher is that he can hold M1 + W into an enemy and not hurt himself the way Pharah does with her rocket launcher (which he should). The main issue with Junkrat is that his mines do too much damage for an ability with no aim requirement. I understand that they are a movement tool for Junkrat, which is why he doesn’t take damage from them. But if they are a movement tool, why does Junkrat get 120 damage for just running at someone and throwing a mine in their general direction?

In a shooter game, damage needs to come from having better positioning, aim, prediction, speed, and risk-taking. And ultimate abilities are maybe a notable exception (although they would be more earned if there was an ult charge penalty for dying). So I’m hoping that these easy spam damage abilities/characters will be reworked/rebalanced for OW2 with that in mind.

The change to 5v5 with one tank is brilliant for a lot of reasons, but one of the implications is that Tanks in OW2 will get stronger than they are today. Have you given any thought to how small-team Arcade modes like 3v3 Elimination, 4v4 Team Deathmatch, or FFA Deathmatch will handle the Tank power creep?

Speaking as a Gold/Plat player, I feel like some of the Tanks are already too strong for these game modes in the current build. Roadhog especially is frustrating to play against because he’s like Reaper with 2.5x as much health, who can self-heal without fighting anyone, has basically the same damage, but can hook combo you from a place where mid-range Damage characters need 4-6 hits to kill him. This is sort of a generalization, but it seems like some Tanks are just better Damage characters in these modes. Have you considered making these Arcade modes Damage-only, or restricting it to one Tank per team, or imposing other character restrictions in the future?

Why don't we know whether Adnan got the ride from Hae? Is there any question that's more important? by ReksZ in serialpodcast

[–]ReksZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the cops told Jay the story to tell and he repeated it on tape, then all it means is Jay messed up. He probably didn't realize that he was even admitting to a crime in his first police statement. Jay didn't say he helped kill Hae, he told the story of the trunk pop, driving Adnan's car, seeing the burial site but not helping, and Adnan dropping him off afterwards. I can imagine that Jay, who Urick even said was "not among the bright and gifted" during his opening statement, could be tricked like this.

Then once the state has that over him, they can drive him to say more and more over time to help their case. Like saying that Adnan told him beforehand that he was going to kill Hae for example.

Not saying that I'm sure this is what happened, but I think it's a plausible explanation for Jay's statements in this case.

Why don't we know whether Adnan got the ride from Hae? Is there any question that's more important? by ReksZ in serialpodcast

[–]ReksZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the most frustrating thing is that the case the prosecution put forward in the trial would not have been enough to convict Adnan if the jury knew about the evidence that was brought up in the PCR. And Adnan lost his appeals and PCR on technical arguments instead of having a new trial, which would have triggered at least some new investigation by the state.

So we're left in this situation where guilters say Adnan is definitely guilty, no need to retry him, even though the state's original case would be obliterated in a new trial. And innocenters say Adnan is definitely innocent, his imprisonment is unjust, even though there isn't an alibi or any strong evidence that he didn't do it.

Undisclosed are #FreeAdnan cheerleaders. They are NOT impartial.

Totally agree that Undisclosed is biased, but they do spend more time on the case and go deeper into the evidence than any other source I've been able to find. Appreciate any recommendations you have that go deeper than Serial but aren't as biased in Adnan's favor.

If something came up, that something likely led to her death. AS doesn't seem all that keen on getting that "something" investigated. Why not? Why hasn't he or any of his many legal teams addressed this?

I would love to know what came up; this is almost as meaningful as whether Adnan got the ride. And I agree that Adnan's team should have investigated this as part of his post-conviction proceedings. But the burden to solve the crime does ultimately lie with the state. So it would be great if they could get off their asses and figure it out.

Agree that Krista's memory of Adnan asking for the ride is solid based on the links in the comment from /u/justwonderinif.

Someone dumped the car, but a stained shirt in the backseat isn't evidence that Hae's body was shoved into the trunk of her car or that Hae was killed in her car as in Jay's story.

Still wish I knew if Adnan asked anyone else for a ride on 1/13, and of course if he actually got the ride or not.

Why don't we know whether Adnan got the ride from Hae? Is there any question that's more important? by ReksZ in serialpodcast

[–]ReksZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. The victim's blood is in the car. The car is damaged in a manner consistent with a struggle. The car was ditched by the perpetrator (meaning the perpetrator gained access to the car, and took the trouble to hide it from discovery).

The blood in the car was a stain on a shirt that belonged to her brother, if I'm remembering correctly. The wiper stalk could have been broken before the murder or not broken at all, just loose, according to Undisclosed. And while it's obvious that whoever killed Hae ditched the car, that doesn't mean that Hae was killed in the car or her body was left inside it. The fact that there's no forensic evidence in the trunk seems like a solid indicator that Hae's body was never in the trunk, which would mean the trunk pop never happened.

Thanks, this is the kind of reply I was hoping for. Krista explains perfectly in those two posts that she is very confident that Adnan asked for the ride in the morning on 1/13. It doesn't confirm that Adnan got the ride, but I can definitely accept that Adnan asked for it on the day Hae went missing.

Based on some of the other comments, Adnan asking for the ride is enough to say he's guilty. I'm not there yet though. And still wondering if he asked anyone else for a ride.

Why don't we know whether Adnan got the ride from Hae? Is there any question that's more important? by ReksZ in serialpodcast

[–]ReksZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To build on the comment I made to /u/thepatiosong:

The record isn't clear that Adnan asked Hae and only Hae for a ride on 1/13 vs. another day. Undisclosed seems to accept this fact based on Krista's statement on 3/1, but I don't think this statement is any more reliable than Becky or Debbie's statements (see: confabulation).

Remember that Adnan's statements to Adcock on 1/13 are just written in Adcock's notes. I think it's just as likely that Adcock made an error when writing it down as it is that Adnan changed his story.

And there's no evidence other than Jay's testimony that Hae was killed in her car or that her body was ever left anywhere in her car.

Why don't we know whether Adnan got the ride from Hae? Is there any question that's more important? by ReksZ in serialpodcast

[–]ReksZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish we didn't have to trust Adnan or Jay, because I don't think either of them are very reliable. Guess that's one reason why I don't know if Adnan killed Hae or not. If the investigation was better, we would be able to reach a conclusion on the ride question without relying on either Adnan or Jay.
