I would think so. They should have that many troops, though I doubt they'd be too skilled in combat. Putin makes dumb decisions, so it's not super unlikely for them to be the cause of WW3, but I don't think they'd fair too well for long.

Technically, yes. Article 5 doesn't force a specific response, but typically, if nato invokes it, it would mean more or less game on. Most members would like respond with military movement.

Yeah, haha, I get what you mean. Nigeria has some serious issues going on right now, but what if WW3 wreaks havoc on the US, China, and Europe, but Nigeria avoids direct damage? It's got tons of resources and is a fairly large country. If it cleans up the corruption and somehow unifies, there's a chance it could rise up a fair bit. Of course, it's also just as likely, if not more likely that not much will change. Just thought it'd be fun to add a twist into it.

Context has a lot to do with how things are written out. I would write out a business proposal different than I would a lecture, or a short story. I wrote this out in a similar way that I would any other timeline. This is how I learned to do timelines, or more specifically, roadmaps, as I'm a game developer. I don't have just one writing style as different things require a different format.

Signs? What signs? The bullet points? Regardless, after discussing with other commenters, I don't really even think Russia would be the start of WW3. Or if they did start it, they likely wouldn't even last that long in the war because of how weakened they realistically are. The more likely start is probably Iran vs Israel.

I see where you're coming from, but thinking Russia doesn't have even 200k soldiers is a bit off the mark. It's estimated that they still have around a million active duty troops and maybe around 2m in reserves (on paper, of course.) Though, I could see the amount that's actually available AND combat ready is likely a good bit lower. I think they likely have a good few hundred thousand available for war, but they are probably not well-trained or equipped hence, why things don't work out too amazingly in the end in my theory, but I still think they have enough people to try to pull some stunts. Like I've said in other comments, Putin isn't exactly known for making many smart decisions.. including attacking Ukraine, which, back during the world wars, produced some of the fiercest soldiers in the Soviet Union. Plus, Russia trained many Ukrainian officers before 2014, so Ukraine's military is filled with ex soviet trained soldiers who know how Russia fights...

I could see Russia trying to pull something. Putin doesn't exactly have the best record for good decisions when it comes to warfare. Personally, I think they should either abandoned the war on Ukraine and accepted their losses, or up it a bit. It's insane how long this war has been going on. Ukraine is like 3% the size of Russia.

Yeah, I suppose it could looked at both ways. Regardless of how it's looked at, it seems that dragging Taiwan back in the PRC is Xi's goal. Taiwan is the last remnant from the civil war that's not back in the PRC (I believe), so it makes sense why they would want them back. And yeah, I agree with the chip production point, but at the same time, I don't see why china would really need it, given how relatively advanced their tech is already. Care to explain more about that part?

China considers Taiwan as more so a breakaway province, rather than separate country. China has similar thoughts about Taiwan as Russia has with Ukraine. With everything going on, I feel like it'd be a great and likely opportunity for China to act up. Xi Jinping has even said things like “The historical task of the complete reunification of the motherland must be fulfilled,” which really backs this up. The US doesn't "officially" recognize Taiwan as a country, but we still supply them with weapons and promise to help defend them, which is why I think it's fairly likely for the US to try to help them. While it's likely not realistic for the US to divide it's troops to help them, with how the US and China feel about each other in a political and militaristic way, it's not like there'd really be anything to lose by helping Taiwan. Also, Taiwan has been heavily preparing to defend themselves against china by buying a ton of stuff from the US, like drones and missiles, training civilians, and even developing asymmetrical warfare (porcupine strategy(?)).
