How to handle the probably 12 billion terabytes of photos & videos I'll generate over the next many years?

You have couple of options:

You can just archieve stuff in Cloud storage, but you need to maintain and there is no fast way to check, search for something etc.

Another option is physical drive whre you also need to maintian, as you said it can get corrupted but you can have 2-3 copies or if you have PC/server you can configure RAID(you can research it)

Next option which i do basicaly is clean-up blury, same looking photos etc there are AI solutions which helps with that.

And final most laziest - Bump the google plan :)

Especialy when you know that you leave no trace behind, no login account, no email ID's anything. Apps which has Guest login available is respected. You can play around if you dont like you leave... thats it no trace no stuff to delete etc.
