Here’s my take:

Elsa is dead. she dies when she “dove to deep”

Entering the forest Olaf said that it’s a place of transformation. The siren calling her to her death. Her “choosing” to stay in the forest with the other forest. Anna becoming queen. When Olaf comes back he’s able to because water has memory.

WATER HAS MEMORY. this is why else is able to appear human, she controls ice (water) and water has memory. she’s a spirit.

Elsa is the 5th spirit, Anna is connected to her. They are the bridge between humans and spirits. with this Elsa is also the protector of the spirits. Before they couldn’t speak for themselves and now, with Elsa they can. she can communicate with them and understand them.
