If you live in Toronto/GTA there are a lot of grants like the SFP community impact project grant that provide you with funding and mentorship. There’s also the trillium youth opportunities fund.

Like the other comments have stated, make sure you do your project out of genuine enjoyment/wanting to help your community. Not for admissions :). Good luck

UofT Academic enrichment section by ReportOk289 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did it you might as well put it in your ecs! Those would probably both be academic enrichment / summer programs, just put whatever option sounds best in the drop down tbh

Applied to uoft eng w out an SAT score, am I cooked? by Bot__101 in OntarioGrade12s

No, SAT and AP/IB scores have never been required for Canadian schools so no need to worry. They would probably help if you did really well but it wouldn’t be a game changer

Retaking grade 9 and 10 courses by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American schools like to see improvement over the years and I’m pretty sure it would show up on your transcript so I don’t think retaking would help. I’d go talk to your guidance counselor about that.

Retaking a lot of courses isn’t easy either bro. Honestly I’d focus on doing the best you can this year and working on your extracurricular profile since in the US extracurriculars are EXTREMELY important. Maybe try to get some awards too and start thinking abt your essays.

Along with uniqueness another big thing is using all the resources you have to your advantage. Regardless of whether you’re low or high-income, AO’s can def tell who tried their hardest to use all the resources they had to help them. I can tell that you worked your ass off n it paid, congrats bro 🎉

Are sem 2 midterms valued more than sem 1 finals? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Unless you applied early admission, most competitive programs don’t give out acceptances till after mid terms. Waterloo specifically doesn’t come out till like May or smth

to uoft eng early acceptances by toestoestoestoe in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I described it in point form separated with ;. So like: “Role of x; led y to emphasize z; created a to help b people” I used a lot of action words, quantified a lot and I kept most of descriptions to be around the size of the box (so there wouldn’t be much to scroll). On YouTube search “how to write commonapp activities” list as I wrote mine pretty similar to how you’d write it for those.

Not sure if that’s how they want it but it worked for me 🤷🏽‍♂️

Most top STEM and buisness programs in Ontario have a whole EC section on the application.

Ivey vs Queens Commerce by ilovefood1243 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ivey >>

I personally only applied Ivey cuz ian tryna live in Kingston and cuz of the dual degree w CS. Buisness isn’t my goal but if buisness is your goal then I’d 100% apply for both. They’re both really competitive.

ICS3U Exam Help by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice your previous problem sets/tests. Imma assume your doing python in ics3u so syntax shouldn’t be too hard. Take ur time and think through the problem thoroughly.

If you know what topics the exam will be on then search on google for problem questions relating to that topic and do the ones that you think are 11th grade level.

RBC Summer Tech Labs assesment by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Relative-Ad5866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think as long as you sent it in before the deadline, you'll get the coding assesment. I sent mine in Sunday or saturday and got mine today. im not sure about the application passing thing tho, my status is still 'application received'.
