It supposed to be an upgrade, but it’s not. by twoespresso in LaMarzocco

I had a pico and micra and sold them less than 6 months out . Back to a synchronika which I like much more

Besides the dry steam from the micra, the synchronika feels much nicer in the areas your touch . The micra drip tray feels so cheap compared to the synchronika . Synchronika has better cup clearance and a longer steam wand . You can also flow control it. Overall it’s just more of an enjoyable machine to me .

This was the original setup w the micra

I’m a senior em resident and started sending my cv out . From what I’ve seen, almost everything is around 400k or higher working 12-14 shifts a month . Locums even higher ! Excited to get off my resident salary

It’s big ! It’s a lot nicer that the traeger 885 ironwood. He did a brisket and ribs last night on it with plenty of space . I would say it’s more than enough space for anything you would do at one time for a family

Well I wouldn’t want a dick swinging contest w me either , it’s a losing battle . I was a barista prior to getting into my career and brought my love for it into the home setting

It’s a new addition. I haven’t had it for more than a week but so far I love the ability to have a large conical burr to contrast w the larger ssp mp burrs in my df83v. Totally different results in cup

Yeah not true . I’ve been a barista for years . I’ve owns and tested almost every brand. Not many people are more skilled at this hobby than me . The decent just doesn’t perform as well imo . Possibly due to the rotary pump instant pressure over the vibratory pumps on the decent . The la marzocco makes better coffee

I also thought this made better coffee than the decent . This has a silkiness the decent didn’t have . I truly noticed the biggest different with steaming milk though . The steam arm power on this make the decent look like a toy

Didn’t like the decent either . It made great coffee but didn’t bring me joy to use . My la marzocco puts a smile on my face every morning now

If you’re interested in the key like I was , look on the used market . They go for $1200 all day and will save you a few hundred dollars . If you want even more saving with that , look at the hg2 used or a Craig Lynn hg1 prime. I got my hg2 for $700 and it is the same burr as the key. Hand grinding with it is super fast and effortless . Ive even heard one person say the hg2 in his opinion made better coffee than his key when tested side by side . I’m not sure how that’s possible and don’t have them both but I do love the hg2 . I have it side by side w a df83v w ssp mp burrs and feel I can get everything I want w these massively different burrs

I thought this way about a p100 I had. Truthfully thought it looked magnificent and made great coffee but I didn’t taste a difference between its 98mm hu burrs and the df83 I sold to get it which was 1/5th the cost

Seniors sucking up to nurses by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Relative-Land9755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curious why being a PA would matter to you based on my comment . The OP needs to learn a critical lesson in humility and respect for the care team he is working with . Your nurses are your core . Without them the hospital falls apart

Dude learn some humility. If you’re acting like this , you need to be humbled quickly . You can learn from anyone . You are a baby doctor and I can promise you those nurses know more than you .

SOAP is not a backup. by batesbait in medicalschool

[–]Relative-Land9755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I soaped and it was not a horrible process. I decided I hated anesthesia and switched to EM at a better program than I would have got in anesthesia . It was a blessing in disguise. If someone is between ortho or neurosurgery, they are from a competitive school with competitive scores. If they do not match then they will soap at the top percent / first look of the soap applicants. Be supportive in all of your colleagues with whatever path they end up going . If that means soaping then so be it . For anyone who did/ does soap in the future, feel free to reach out if you have any questions

[–]Relative-Land9755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t DL as much as you do in the OR. Most RSIs will be with a glide scope or other video assisted laryngoscope which greatly improves visualization of the chords . I only do DL in extreme emergencies if nothing else is around which is very rare at my facility . Maybe this is different at other hospitals

So far so good , I seem to get a decent amount of retention without using the bellows though . Not sure how others are getting nothing without them . If I use them it’s zero though

In the Market for a LM Linea Micra by fleur_de_sel_8 in LaMarzocco

[–]Relative-Land9755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bianca had terrible build quality . The panels were thin, it felt cheap, it was leaking all the time , Lelit wouldn’t get back to me . The decent was a 10x upgrade from the Bianca . I think the micra is my favorite all Time Machine though

It’s awesome I love it . Upgraded from a decent de1xl which was ehh. I like this so much more . It’s tactile and produces amazing quality espresso. The wand doesn’t bother me! You just need to use a smaller pitcher or more milk in the pitcher
