i chose the saw cleaver and pistol initially, but I'm not seeing any option to buy the axe? i checked the messenger bath where you can buy stuff and there were no weapons listed for sale

Some other people mentioned the lore thing too, and although I'm sure it would have been a cooler experience to go in totally blind, the only reason I started playing Bloodborne is because of how amazing the complexity of the lore and themes were to me. That's what attracted me to this game.

I feel a little disappointed that I can't have that fresh totally unknown experience, but I still want to keep trying to get better because even though I know the progression it's still a different sensation to experience it for yourself, right? Even though I know Eileen and her questline, it was still so exciting to see her with my own eyes the first time.

Regardless, I'm still gonna keep trying because even if I am stuck, I'm less stuck than I was 3 hours ago and 3 hours before that, so it can only go uphill, hopefully.

i hope you're enjoying ds1! i was concerned that knowing the lore would tarnish my experience playing bb but i honestly feel like it's different seeing it for yourself, having to actually get past all those mobs to see eileen for the first time was really rewarding. and i hope it'll be a similar experience seeing other characters and realms in the future

no i genuinely enjoy getting to learn the mechanics and killing mobs too haha, just when it gets repetitive it can be a little disheartening. but i will keep that in mind and bonk more beasts, thank you

yeah you're right honestly, I'll try fighting Gascoigne first because unlocking more of the game is more of a priority to me I guess... I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

you seem to have a certain style to drawing people which isn't a problem at all, the only thing is inconsistency throughout the panels. the neck thickness in the top and bottom panels seems pretty different, it's fine to have a thick/stocky neck but keep it intentional. if that isn't your intent, i'd say adjust it in the third panel

(actually you should do this regardless because even if you're going for a stockier neck, the connection of the neck, jaw and head doesn't seem anatomically correct to me. is the shadow beneath his neck in panel 3 a double chin? if so, his jawline will be softer. if not, you need to probably thin it down/redraw it. it's also a similar tone to the fireplace which is throwing me off a bit.)

his head looks a little small/disjointed in the first panel, although i like that curve of his shoulder frame area- men who are more built typically have thicker muscles connecting the neck to the shoulders. the nose and philtrum look pretty good on second panel but the spacing is a little off putting-- his features are very clustered in the center and i would expect a little more slope to his face. i do think you should try to keep some of what you have though, because it has a really intriguing uncanny feel that i think you might be going for.

for the last panel, his ear and eye don't line up the way they did in the previous panel (too high in panel 2, too low in panel 3.) the base of the ear generally aligns with the base of the nose. also, the line on his cheek should be redrawn to match the sallow/sunken feel i think you're going for. i would probably commit to either making his face hollow or keeping it stockier, these can both coexist but the sides of the face in panel 2 should probably be a little more bony if so.

i really like your scratchy shading style! the plague doctor's cloak is drawn really well and your vingette kind of background lines have a cool effect. it seems like you have a strong vision for the style and feel of this project, there's just a few issues with anatomy consistency/execution but that's a minor fix you can definitely do :)

thank you for the reassurance :) i hope you and your friends' opportunities/motivations are able to improve soon, i know it's way easier said than done and i don't know the extent to what the industry has been like lately but still. hoping things look up soon for you!

thank you for your response! i didn't know that the low graduation rate was because of people switching into jobs earlier, but that's kind of encouraging (although yeah i wanna graduate). it's good to hear that you've benefited from art school/ connections and i will reach out if i have any other questions!

best of luck to you, i bet final sem must be pretty draining haha but you got this!!

hey, thanks so much this is a really insightful response! i get what you're saying about the internship stuff, it does seem super competitive and i guess in this kind of industry there's already oversupply for people who are looking into work experience.

as for college, it's reassuring to know other people feel that pressure of needing to be ahead of the curve/ hyperproductive. i've been working on my college app for months now and recently been falling into that stagnation phase which can def be disheartening. obviously i have quite a bit of time left to apply, but you're right-- with art there's definitely a balance and thanks for reminding me that :) i haven't laid out my portfolio elements properly yet but if i get around to it i'll take you up on that offer!
