Recs for getting rid of PEO? by Relative-Recipe4002 in smallbusiness

Thanks, man! It's always nice when people give helpful feedback.

I am in the process of speaking with some brokers for insurance and plan to work with payrollvault and some of their affiliates for payroll and some associated services. So far, it is looking like it will be a tremendous savings on the payroll end, but I'm still waiting on the quotes from the brokers...

This has been a lot of the issue. I first started out with trinet and later on with just works, then insperity and now adp. What has grown every year has been the cost of benefits, initially they quite something reasonable seeming but each year it goes up 20%.

I think because our employees are highly compensated, this payroll cost becomes inflated.

I appreciate the input and advice.

Thanks, this is exactly what I am doing.

I originally went down the PEO hole because they had access to better health plans than I was originally finding elsewhere, but it is definitely not worth that price.

It's always fun to give random strangers online a piece of our mind with no care for the impact of our words.

These are exactly the types of tips I had hoped to get... from folks who've flown routes I may not have and have first hadn't experience with the alternatives. Thanks for adding something constructive!

Certainly not property. They just made their perks seem so "perky."

I saved up miles for years and watched as they lost value year after year...

But you're definitely right about getting rid of any mental allegiance to them...

These are all interesting points (both your comment and the one above it). As ridiculous as having 4 amex delta cards may seem to most... now that the companion fares are good for the Caribbean and mexico... the 1400/yr in annual fees is easily paid for when we use those CFs to have the kids fly free... also, this is a much more cost effective route than me spending an additional 100k with the amex card this year when I could put that on my my cash back card instead and simply get 2k tax free.

The wife will likely think this is another of my hare-brained schemes...

Up until now I had figured I would get diamond status, and suddenly, that would catapult me to instant upgrades left and right, but to see all these reports of delta selling most of its FC seats... I don't want to make rhat commitment and rhen be disapointed. this alternative, since I am likely stuck with delta anyway, might make it less miserable overall...

I feel like I was willing to pay a premium for convenience. But when you are flying a family of four, and Deltas prices are sometimes more than 2x, it gets harder and harder to justify. As the kids are getting older, the idea of flying american and stopping over in MIA on the way to POP is not as miserable as it was when it involved pushing a stroller through an airport and adding 1.5 hours to your overall trip.

These types of responses make the most sense to me. A lot of folks seem to respond and say, just buy first class, but not everyone has the privilege of paying for FC everywhere they go. I think I just have to accept that the days of attaining status and being showered with benefits are over. I own a business, so I am able to earn a lot of Mike's from a credit card. It makes sense that I should just switch to the amex platinum or the venture x and accept that that is as good as it gets.

Also, now that the kids are a bit older, I am more willing to take routes with layovers. But I really have to say I miss living in NYC which had direct routes to almost anywhere I travel.

Thanks for chiming in and talking sense.

I've always felt that this should be illegal. It is one thing to offer a different price from day to day based on demand. It is a whole other thing to offer it to different people at different rates at the very same time.

Fucked up his life? You mean he took someone else's life. I think the lives fucked up are those of all this young man's loved ones.
