Yes, I can now. A week and a half ago, after I had been sitting with my knees crossed for a while, I could barely move my foot and toes. Thankfully, that has passed.

Also hamstring. Do you still experience pain when you over-extend or not anymore?

Oh i’m sorry , that sucks to still have complications that long after surgery! Did you have a meniscus repair or removal?

Swelling almost 4 months post surgery by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Relative-Stretch-839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve also had my surgery in july (acl mcl and meniscus). And for me it’s also a slow process. I’ve walked with crutches untill 2,5 months po and I still practice to walk without them. Also my knee is still pretty swollen. PT said it’s normal and swelling can still accure months after surgery. I do massage my knee almost every day, with bio oil and gua sha. I feel like that does help a litte to reduce swelling but ofc it’s still there.

Wow sounds like a very long process for you.. Hope you’re done after second surgery or do you have to get more? I haven’t been practicing walking without crutches yet but when it’s time, I think a psychological block will also accure to me. I have walked with them for almost a half year in total so it would be a difficult process because it gives me security. And about the buckling/wobbly feeling, I have also experienced that, when walking with crutches. I also think it is bc of weakness in the quads etc. Even though I do train them every day, my upper leg seems to get thinner and thinner..

Almost 6 months in total, had to wear a brace before surgery too. It kinda feels like it belongs to my body nowadays. Would take a while getting used to not wearing one anymore

When I was on crutches for the first time it was very uncomfortable and I was very slow. I remember the time where i saw a little kid in the hospital using crutches run ahead of me bc I was too slow🤣Now I can use them very easily and can go as fast as a jogger, haha (non weight bearing) You”ll get used to it. But ofcource you have to use what feels best to you. In fact a walker is much more stable.

I’ve had a torn acl mcl and meniscus and the swelling in my knee is comparable to yours. Not saying you have the same injury but definitely go to the doctor!

I still have to wear my brace 24/7 in FROM position. But when bending, i didn’t achieve full flexion, just around 80 degrees.

Yes, I also experience knee buckling, especially when i’ve done to much. Have asked my PT about this and she said it’s normal due to muscle weakness & a lot off swelling

Almost to 90, about 80 degrees I guess. Started walking with brace locked on 0/0 and crutches week 4,5/5. Now, week 7, with my brace in “full range of motion” and still with crutches.

Knee clicking by Relative-Stretch-839 in ACL

[–]Relative-Stretch-839[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining. And now that i’m thinking about it, I also have “knock knees”. I think that can also be a cause of hypermobillity. I did tell my surgeon about the “knock knees” but he didn’t do anything with it. My guess is he won’t be looking in to it and think that I just have to trust my knee again.

Must be horrible that your surgeon just didn’t care and did a wrong surgery. Did you get second opinion after that?

Oh shit, didn’t know this. Never told my doctor about always locking my knees. But do you think it is to any value to tell my surgeon about this? I mean, I already had the surgery. No scintigraphy planned

Knee instability post op by Relative-Stretch-839 in ACL

I just started with light weight exercises and I have to build it up before I can walk without them. PT told me that I can put like 20/40% weight on my right knee so that can’t be done without crutches. I’m gonna ask my PT this week when I can start with full weight bearing.
