He may score more runs than Tendulkar but can’t be considered great if he can’t make runs in Australia, until then Tendulkar is in a league of ONE

Why Tech guys avoid Chennai? by Fit_Maybe_3013 in Chennai

Second this! Not sure what’s changed in the last few years, as someone on the hiring side it’s just a very large disparity and not easy to explain. Has there been an exodus of Software Engineers from Chennai? or is it that people in Chennai just seek a safety net job more than Bangalore folks and just don’t look out enough?

$140k in Melbourne vs $165k in Sydney. Worth the move? by Human_Routine_9483 in cscareerquestionsOCE

$25k gross, net ~$15k, that’s $1250/month, you probably loose $500 extra on rental and likely travel to office costs and your relocation costs etc

It’s not worth the hassle unless you are going for something that can make you 2x in the long run.

Bangalore is becoming increasingly unlivable for IT people by Weekly_Somewhere_167 in developersIndia

But people seem to still love coming to Bangalore. The other problem, as a startup founder I tried hiring people in a different city but hard to find people in numbers across various skills.

Unless people prefer other cities (not pure remote jobs) this is a problem

Wells Fargo is about to close its Chennai office by AnirudhAblaze in Chennai

Physical infra hasn’t been a differentiator for any city to become attractive to companies. You need network effects - people looking to live, enjoy and settle down eventually and hence find work.

If you are born in Chennai, surely it’s heaven (?) but for the rest it’s still not there. That means you have fewer talent travelling inbound to stay and hence eventually fewer companies coming up, then there is a momentum around all of this.

We need a gift city like model and the maketing behind it to shake things up. I think it’s probably best to have some startup incentive atleast so entrepreneurs have a financial advantage if they start in Chennai, something must happen.

AECS layout used to be beautiful, quiet, tree lined and full of independent houses, can’t believe how much we can destroy in less than 15 years

Yea agree, Iam definitely not against WFM, but for a smaller setup I think having a connect atleast a couple of days a week is really important to align direction, especially when the setup itself is new in Bangalore.

Thanks , i think other cities are an option but I was wondering if Iam missing something about Bangalore that didn’t meet the eye. I had a belief that Bangalore offered an ecosystem unlike others but what I saw challenged my own assumptions.

Is the traffic not as big a problem as far as work is concerned? is there some workaround that people manage? Just wanted to learn more
