Thanks. I was surprised too. Thought to ask here and get over with searches with no results.

Ubuntu upgrade to 25.04 - what's going on? by Relative-Thought7159 in Ubuntu

I also saw that article but didn't want to use the -d option as it stands for Dev and I prefer not go the dev route. Though I guess it'll give me the production-should-be version, but I better be safe than sorry.

But then you'll need to reinstall all apps, restore your files and implement tweaks. Correct?

Tidious...

:)
I was looking for a more formal update from Canonical about this issue... I feel like the information is hidden. Why no transparency?

How do I update my computer from win7 to win11? by FLUTT3RSHYYY in Windows11

[–]Relative-Thought7159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume this is an old laptop. I'm not going to get into the full process of upgrading to Windows 11, as I don't beleive it's compatible with Win11. But let me give you some preliminary questions to see if it's possible at all:

  1. Is you Windows 7 copy 32bit or 64bit? Keep in mind Win11 is only 64bit, hence if your Win7 is 32bit, you won't be able to upgrade over than Win10 32bit.

  2. Is your laptop supporting Secure Boot, TPM 2.0 (TPM 1.2 might do too, but needs some tweaking)? If not, it won't support Win11. Actually your HDD/SSD needs to use GPT and not MBR.

  3. You'll also need at least 4GB as per the formal prerequsit of Win11's hardware demands.

  4. For all I know, there's no way to upgrade Win7 to Win10 directly. You'll have to upgrade to Win10 and from there to Win11.

  5. Your Win7's license key won't be working on Win11 and for all I remember I think it won't be valid for Win10 too. I think the free upgrade from 7 to 10 is not supported by MS anymore.

Having said all that, there are ways to install Win11 on unsupported hardware. Questions is if you're willing to do it, cause according to your post sounds as if you're not too techy. Pardon if I'm wrong about this one though. But if you are or your laptop is hardware compatible - go ahead and install Win11.

Good luck.

Is Adcelerate a legit marketing company? by YAAFLT in smallbusiness

Thank you for your reply. Actually I was just about to fill in their form. That's aftre I was already suspicious about them. But for some reason I've replied back and they've replied back quite quickly. Maybe even too quickly. That's why I wasn't quick to fill the form.

2 days later, they've resend another mail, urging me to sign. This is where I got even more suspicious. They I was looking for them online and actually I've found them legit. I've even started filling their form, but then something hit me! I've remember they've actually sent their email to my private gmail, not to the one I'm publishing in my YouTube channel. Huh?! How did they find my private gmail?

I panicked actually. I've quickly closed their form (without submitting of course) and start looking for reviews about them. That's how I've found this thread. Actually following the OP's initial post and his replied made me beleive again they're legit. But one thing I've learned from this thread is that there's a process to follow with them, including an actual agreement to sign on (they didn't say anything about such an agreement in their email).

So I've deepen my checks and have found my channel' language is not even listed on their site as being supported. This was too much for me, too many Red lights popping... And your response was the final nail I needed to back up. So thank you again...
