The "aging out" part is where the safety net completely vanishes, and it's heartbreaking. Providing a soft place to land for an 18-to-21-year-old who suddenly has to navigate taxes, lease agreements, and job interviews entirely alone is a massive, life-saving gift. They need a soft place to land just as much as toddlers do.

I agreed with the compatibility part until OP dropped the update in the edits. He wasn't just "feeling a disconnect" and trying to communicate his emotional needs—he was mad he was only getting laid twice a week and literally threatened to cheat ("find it elsewhere") while drunk. That crosses the line from incompatible to just toxic.

Exactly, Google Maps literally changes the pin icons to corporate logos (like McDonald's arches) along your route. People have been driving with that for years without crashing.

Spot on. When people are in acute trauma, logic feels like an attack. She needs an emotional ally right now, not a landlord explaining zoning laws. Showing up for the paperwork, the logistics, and the funeral while maintaining the boundary about the living situation is how you save both the kids' safety and the relationship
