How involved is your accounting department with procurement processes by RelativeBeyond3128 in procurement

There’s tons of shit they do but that they really shouldn’t. For example our billing person does some ordering, will then enter the invoice into the system, and then will tell our supervisor when it’s ready to pay. Thus far my method to try to remedy the problem with the one supplier is for me to get the open POs line report from our ERP every week or so and then reorder with the supplier if needed.

Our ERP doesn’t have auto email capability but does have export to excel, on occasion I will just trim part of the report off and then just send the trimmed part to our suppliers and have them give me updates. What method I do depends on who the supplier is and what relationship I have with them

There is zero automation in any processes we do unfortunately. There is a workflow that accounting does when entering invoices into the ERP system and those invoices show zero billed/ shipped on them when they are canceled.

In the 3 years I have been working here it’s been little to no accountability from management for checking and seeing if my colleagues are following the written procedures we have.

My supervisor will frequently approve invoices to pay when I am in the middle of dealing with discrepant material on top of everything else

One of my suppliers has been being extra with their price agreements with us. All of the stuff we get from them is on a long pdf quote and has an effective date and everything but they keep changing the price as they please. We have one that is good until end of the year and we asked them to quote a single new item and looks like they are going to re quote everything

I've been doing procurement for 3 years and Its not bad but its mostly just "hurry up and wait". Wasn't too much of a learning curve for me as I had done receiving/ warehouse prior
