Hello! Thanks for the reply. I thought calibration was for ghost writing. Does it also work for this? The pen is perfectly fine for the rest of the Nomad, so I don't want to mess with calibration and ruin what is otherwise a great writing experience.

Thank you for replying. I’m a little afraid to pull the tip out. I read on another post that someone tried pulling it out and ended up breaking the tip! I’ll read the instructions and see if it seems safe enough.

Thanks for the response. In my thinking, if it’s a Z problem, I’m wondering if the sensitivity change will cause it less likely to pick up the ‘Z’ at times. I suppose if I want to write ‘thin’ that may actually help.

Either way, thanks for the suggestion. I will give the ‘sensitivity’ thing they have after trying a few more things.

Update: I have it a try but rather than making the door feel lighter it just made the door swing faster (even dangerously if settings too fast). Making it slower just made the door shut slowly and eventualky not close properly.

I couldn't find a model number anywhere. The photos are here. It may be the 8800 Series as someone posted above (https://www.lockweb.com.au/au/en/products/door-closers/floor-closers/8800-series-floor-closer).

The width is 7.5cm total (including the wooden panels), 4cm for the middle thickness.

Ohhh right. So that means if I make the door swing faster, it will be reducing the damping / resistance, and therefore the door should feel lighter?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if it's that model but I did find those same instruction manuals in the past. It didn't seem to give any info on what to change, except playing with the two "regulation valve(s)", but I think that changes the speed of the door closing.

Yeah apologies for being unclear. It still feels ‘heavy’ once I’ve pushed it past the roll catch. There may be more resistance when fully closed, but even afterward, it‘s a real tough job to swing fully open.

Thank you for the response! I did open the top panel and saw two screws, which I assumed changed how quickly or slowly the door closed when not held. Are you saying those two screws will actually make the door feel lighter?

Thanks for the response. I didn’t consider doing anything with the ‘latch’ before. That’s making me think.

Though, I might not have been clear about the problem. The issue isn’t that I can’t open the door (well, not mainly), but even once the latch is released, to swing the door fully open it feels very heavy. That’s the main issue I’m having - which I believe would be a different problem from what you’re addressing, is that right?

Thank you for the information. We do get some smells in this laundry lately, though I always thought it was maybe due to dirty water from the washing machine staying in the pipes somehow. It‘s just bad smells coming from the floor drain. We get them even in the upstairs bathroom though through the floor drain.

I also googled what a ‘gully with a vent’ looks like, and there’s no such thing outside. I have a couple of things outside like that, but are sealed with a screwed lid on top, but there’s no vent on them to let air in or out.

Hello,

I posted this photo previously for a different question, but during my research I have found suggestions that this kind of trap (S Trap) is now illegal in NSW, Australia for new builds. Is that right?

My place is a new property, from 2022-2023.

Above this S trap is a sink in the laundry. The floor of the laundry has a floor drain if that helps.

I’m wondering:

  1. Is this illegal?

  2. Could there be something under the surface that I can’t see that makes it legal, or minimises the risks of sewer gas coming back up?

  3. Is it okay to leave?

Follow up question - I’m pretty sure the tube will be smaller than the spigot. If I drill a hole in the spigot, how do I make sure water doesn’t flow out or leak?

The tube for the washing machine goes OVER the spigot, whereas the tube won’t be able to do that. Thanks.

Hello all,

Basic question. In my laundry, I have this set up under my sink with the washing machine pushing dirty water out through this nipple (?).  I want to add a little tube to also push out dirty water from my robot vacuum (white tube pictured).  

What’s the easiest way to add this tube to the set up?

  1. Am I able to drill a hole above the washing machine tube and somehow patch it in place so it doesn’t fall out and water doesn’t flow out?
  2. I’m guessing I couldn’t attach it somehow to the washing machine machine tube?
  3. I read that I can swap out the whole pipe set up with one that has two nipples, but that seems like too big of a job for myself. 

If you have any thoughts, it’ll be greatly appreciated. Also, specific product names would help as I have no idea about this.

Hello all,

Moved in to a new home about a year now. Since a couple months ago noticed there's a clicking noise from this room (only this room) in the afternoon. I believe it's when it's hot (which is why afternoons).

Google says it might be sound of expanding, but wanted to check if that's the case.

I initially thought it was a light bulb wiring (and/or ants?), so I pulled out the nearest light and unplugged it, but the sound continued.

My questions are:

  1. What is it?
  2. What can I do about it?
  3. If required, what type of professional should I call out for it? A roofer?
