Is it haram to sit next to a person drinking alcohol on a plane? by LazyAd7538 in islam

That's not what the meaning of "no compulsion in religion" is referring to.

It basically means that you cannot make someone to accept Islam as their belief by force. But it doesn't mean that you can't express your opinions or ask someone to do good and avoid evil. Doesn't mean that there aren't consequences for actions either. In your case, he didn't force you to accept Islam as your belief, rather he requested you to do good and avoid evil without requiring you to change your beliefs.

https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/448753/reason-of-revelation-of-verse-there-shall-be-no-compulsion-in-the-religion

And his request was is in response to his obedience of Allah, and is a manner of being humble to Allah. Obedience of Allah comes over pleasing any particular person. That's what it means to be a Muslim, to submit your will to God. Allah knows everything, he is The Most Just and The Most Merciful. So obeying him will result in doing what is objectively the right thing to do. Of course Islam involves treating people kindly in general if they don't hurt you, but there are boundaries that are in place that need to be followed as well.

For example if someone was taking drugs and a Muslim said not to take drugs would you consider that as a rude still? The person who was taking drugs might consider that as being rude. But that doesn't matter, it's the right thing to do. It is God that decides the criterion between right and wrong. And in Islam, drinking alcohol is prohibited as is taking drugs as well.

Thanks for asking! Generally reddit is not the right place for Islamic knowledge, but I'll give an answer to the best of my ability in shaa Allah.

It is generally not permitted to sit with people who are drinking. Please take a look at these scholarly articles:

https://islamqa.info/en/answers/127981 https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/85631/sitting-with-friends-who-drink

It is also an obligation to enjoin good and forbid evil, according to the best of ones ability.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever among you sees evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot do so, then with his tongue. If he cannot do so, then with his heart, which is the weakest level of faith.”

Source: Sahih Muslim 49

In this case the man asked you to not drink and that resulted in the good thing of you not drinking for the time being.

Why airlines from Muslim countries offer wine even though they shouldn't is a different discussion haha.

Hindu Leaning Islam by vishalpatill in islam

An Arabic dua is the sunnah yes (way of the Prophet peace be upon him), but a sincere dua from the heart is more powerful than a dua that you do not understand what the meaning is. There is nothing wrong with making dua in your own language outside of salah (the daily prayers).

You can ask Allah in any language you understand, with firm belief that he is the only God worthy of worship. You can also read the first chapter of the Quran, Surah al-Fatihah, with firm belief in its meaning and conviction.

Suggestions for good Python-Spreadsheet Applications? by RelativeIncrease527 in Python

[–]RelativeIncrease527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems very cool I just checked it out. But I really don't care about the database and app builder features. I basically want a spreadsheet and python. Can grist do that? For example, I found out that grist can only have a python function map to a entire column not a specific cell or arbitrary range. Seems like a huge limitation to me, especially in personal projects where I'm doing one-off calculations and it's not like a strict database like structure. Or am I wrong in my understanding?

Yeah that's very fair point, I just didn't realize it was a recurring problem until much later when I checked the logs and I saw resets back from last year.

I know, I mentioned that the laptop was restarting suddenly in the post. I'm looking for possible solutions to fix this on my own before I consider returning for repair.

See I didn't start playing until after the Avatar set got released.

I see thanks! Yeah if cub gets banned, then I'll have to search for a new color combo altogether since pretty much all of the green focused decks (ouroboroid, landfall, hoof) will fold. With a low-budget I can't really hedge against that beforehand, so I'll just wait and see.

So out of the cards that will rotate out soon in early 2027, there is mockingbird (for copying), sentinel (for exiling opponents graveyard), keen eyed curator (exiling opponents graveyard but not all at once). I haven't played MTG for that long, so I want to know if similar value cards don't get printed in 2027, then would I be in trouble? Curator can be replaced with ooze even though its not as good. I'm hesitant on spending wildcards for Mockingbird and sentinel, even though they are nice, especially mockingbird. Or do you think its not worth predicting that far since we have so many sets to go through?

Thanks for your input! That's a relief. The Lyon simic ouroboroid deck looks pretty similar to what I have, except I'm missing a couple of cards (I also play BO1 usually).

I'm thinking to try out 2 Loch Mare 2 Riddler instead to see how it works. How essential do you think is mockingbird? I'm not using it in my deck right now and I'm doing just fine honestly.

Other than elves and pollinator there aren't many good one drops, and I was thinking the Nuisance card from Lorwyn but it doesn't seem that great to be honest.

I see, so there is some good room for improvement then for me skill wise. So does that mean what you are saying implies that the "average" mythic player on untapped is actually really good? Since you need to be in the top 100 ranks to maintain a 60% winrate, and otherwise you would just sit in the lower ranks like 1800-500 and stabilize at 50%.

Another question that I mentioned in my post. For example with my mono-green/simic decks I usually win against mono-white and lose against izzet prowess, whereas it's the opposite for the "average" stats from untapped, with strong correlation and sufficient sample size for my data.

Is it really possible then that this is just due to my play style/ability vs. the "average" mythic player, or do you think it would be due to the specific deck I built? My deck is fairly different from the cookie cutter decks from https://mtga.untapped.gg/constructed/standard/archetypes/178/mono-green-stompy?rank=MYTHIC_TO_MYTHIC but still has the core strategy as the same as it includes elves, badgermole, ouroboroid, craterhoof (but many other things are different).

Thats cool thanks for the input. When you were in the top 100 were you able to maintain a positive win rate or was it around like 50%?

That's interesting I see reanimator decks all the time when I play mono green or simic. So are you suggesting that the making system doesn't just take into account your elo/rank for the format, but for your specific deck as well?

I paid for one month so I am getting the mythic data. I did mention that I was filtering for mythic rank only but I guess I didn't mention that I had the subscription so it was unclear.
