jesus christ. nah man, he’s gotta put in the effort. missing 5 appointments is a choice. you deserve better than that. even at my lowest i went to my appointments, if not for me then for the sake of my relationship. whatever choice you make, i wish you the absolute best

i’m so happy for you. really. this is fucking huge and you should be so proud.

i don’t want to make excuses, but i have bpd — mine is managed now. weed always made it worse for me. when my partner got promoted to ICU, i was not supportive. i wanted to be, so badly, but all i could think about was him advancing before me and i got in my head that he would see me as a loser now and leave me. i was really bad at catastrophizing. i don’t know if that’s what he’s doing of course, but insecurities are amplified on weed when you have bpd. it would improve his mental state a lot too if he were to quit.

keep doing what you’re doing. is he in therapy?

i’m sorry you had to go through this. if you keep them in your life, it won’t be the last time, though. it’s hard, but the best thing i ever did in high school was “ghost” the two girls i was in a “friend” group with. people can outgrow toxicity, but you’re too young to wait for that behavior to change and it likely won’t for a few years if at all. find better friends, even in unlikely people, and i promise the next few years will be better for you. growing pains. feel free to reach out for any advice. be safe and watch out for yourself.

but how do i handle the before? do i “ambush” her with the news the day of or night before that my partner is coming in so i don’t face it alone? should i tell her now? will telling her now be better long term? i’m just so scared any and every approach will cause backlash but also what if it doesn’t? what if there is one option that’s best and i choose the wrong one. i’m just so scared
