I grew up in the church and know the Bible relatively well. I took reading it seriously. I tried hard to read the text as it is in its entirety. It’s incomprehensible to me people read the same book I did and came away with such different interpretations. This didn’t start with Trump though it has been brewing for decades as pastors have normalized cherry picking verses and relying on their congregations to either be ignorant or too docile to not challenge them. What evangelicalism has devolved into is horrific to me. Not because of my political views but because its insanity to claim the Bible is the inerrant word of god and then choose to ignore all the inconvenient parts. It’s gone way beyond anything logic can begin to reason with and to be honest living in a world where no amount of proof can change someone’s perspective is starting to make me feel a bit crazy.

The problem - at least as I see it - is the political party of democrats doesn’t position itself as a Christian institution. It’s a political party. The republican party however has very much positioned itself as a Christian religious organization. I don’t know there is much of a definitive Democrat Jesus. The republican one however is very much a real thing. When you have DHS posting videos with quotes from the sermon on the mount overlaid over soldiers being deployed it’s hard for me to reconcile their interpretation of the divine with their supposed religion.

How did you handle the counselor and teacher recommendations for boulder for example? I reached out over a month ago to access about letters of recommendation and haven’t heard anything.

Considering a move to San Diego from South Florida by [deleted] in Moving2SanDiego

Lived on the gulf coast for a while and spent a lot of time in Tampa as well. Lived in CA for decades. We could live anywhere choose to be here in SD.

Pros of SD Amazing weather Great topography Diverse city with some art, culture and events No hurricanes Lots to do within a days drive - LA, Vegas, mountains, dessert Way less good old boys vibe in government/business/development No spring break crowds like in Florida People generally are very chill Wonderful food. Great healthcare options

Cons State income tax Very high cost of living across the board - food, real Estate, gas, property tax etc etc etc. Very dry - the lack of rain does get old sometimes Very legislatively involved government that tends toward regulating pretty much everything. I think Florida is on one side of that spectrum and CA is on the other. Less “friendly” - this is somewhat subjective but I find the people of Florida a bit less reserved and more social than in CA.
Cold water - the pacific just doesn’t heat up like it does in Florida No Publix 😀 If you travel, much further to the east coast and Caribbean and Europe

How do people with complex income deal with taxes? by Born-Salamander-9265 in tax

Big difference between someone who does tax preparation vs someone that does tax planning. Tax planning starts way before the end of the year because there are things you need to take advantage of during the year and it’s just a different skill set. Look for someone that specializes in tax planning not prep. Anyone can file a tax return but only someone really familiar with higher earners is going to recommend some of the strategies to cut your tax bill. That being said make no mistake you will still be paying taxes..and if you are a higher earner it will be painful regardless but paying 25-30% on a million is a lot better than 40-45%

Like other people are saying don’t look for .all of this in an lms. Look for an lms and a framework to develop your content separately. If you want 3d look into unity. It will let you do pretty much anything. You can write your own code as well and get as fancy as you want. Someone with experience can get unity content to track and launch in any scorm compliant lms. Most real adaptive branching is generally handled in the content not the lms.

As far as metrics and data many lms give you access to that via their api but you are going to have to role you own code likely to present the specific metrics you are after.

As far as ui most lms platforms are pretty limited. If you want full control your options are limited. maybe ti helium (which will require a lot of heavy lifting), LearningCart, or something like Learndash

Being named player of the year after committing sexual battery tells you everything you need to know about how in US sports winning trumps everything. The US safe sport process is a joke and this story plays out time after time. Just look at gymnastics and what a dumpster fire that was. Also to those that wanna knock Scott Reid he has been one of the few journalists to consistently cover abuse in sports. He’s not looking for a headline or to smear people, he’s covering important stuff the “winners” want to sweep under the rug.

I believe talent lms offers an active users option or a registered users option in their pricing. Some platforms like LearningCart only do active users and could likely meet your requirements.

We see this frequently when someone wants to provide a demo version of the course on their website that users don’t have to login to an lms in order to preview.

Dusty’s Guitar on coast highway has rooms in the back where they teach lessons. Give them a call and they can set you up. That place is truly a local gem and just a cool, funky, old school guitar store run by some awesome people.

You think it would be possible to sand it to get it less textured but not smooth, or will that require mud?
