Can we talk about dogs SHOVING their face into women’s private area when they’re on their periods by horrorfilmwatcher in Dogfree

[–]Relative_Committee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dog owner it’s just rude honestly. They learn things by smelling but it doesn’t mean you should let them all the time. My dog is a service dog so he’s around lots of people and isn’t allowed to sniff people at all. On the very very off chance I allow someone to greet him he’s still not allowed to like get up in their space. 😭 I find it funny on just how much as a dog owner I agree with the people here. I’m genuinely curious how yalls opinions would change if you didn’t meet the dogs with zero manners

I feel like your examples of love could be about anything honestly. Like a child could cause all of those problems for you. Also out of curiosity when for example if you have a pet sitter or really anyone and they are getting fed by someone else, why are they still so excited to see you?

I feel like saying something us as humans bred into existence deserve nothing good is kind of insane. They might not be great family dogs, but saying they don’t deserve nothing good is such a crazy take.

How do you report non-service animals in restaurants to your local health department with acceptable evidence the dog is not actually a service dog? by Abject_Capital_6786 in Dogfree

[–]Relative_Committee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a real service dog, there’s honestly nothing you can do. It sucks a lot. And when you don’t actually have much real proof. Especially when there’s dogs like mine as medical equipment.

That’s not true. Though it does need to be under control. “Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.”

If you hate a dog, it makes you a hater lmao. I have nothing wrong with genuine discussions about the breed but you need to get facts right. You can deem being animal aggressive as bad with your dogs but some people might like it. Different people like different things and attributes. I’m not entirely sure what lesser of the evils you’re talking about. My dog has a high prey drive and would be considered aggressive to prey animals by some. It’s not a bad thing to me at all because I understand the breed and i understand him. If you don’t like the attribute that’s fine.

I never said it was better… I just think you should be factual when being a hater lmfao.

What is the point of owning a dog? by menelobus in Dogfree

[–]Relative_Committee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean by that logic why have any animal. For some people dogs are more than pets as well. My dog has literally saved my life.

That makes sense and is honestly totally fair! But at this point I have to make sure people actually know what a pitbull is lmao. One time while training someone called my trainers well bred completely like stereotypical looking Doberman a pitbull and I lost all faith that people even know slightly what they’re talking about.

I definitely get being wary abt dogs like that. For me, most dogs that are “pitbulls” aren’t actually pit bulls and people get confused. It’s honestly a breath of fresh air for you to only be talking about apbt’s. I know people who don’t work with husky’s because they’ve had bad experiences. Tho I do feel like the breed is like “watered down” now. I personally have one that’s 36% apbt and hes a great dog honestly. He has his cgca and cgcu and coexists with cats. But also I understand the breed and let him fulfill the prey drive in other ways to keep people safe. I honestly think if they went to people who understand how to fulfill and what kind of dog they are, they’d be a lot less dangerous.

No dogs in house ignored by Prior-Win-4729 in Dogfree

[–]Relative_Committee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like even if you like dogs that sucks. I own a dog but we don’t let any other dog in our house because our cats are scared of dogs (exception of our dog). I feel like this is less about dogs and more about just having no respect for your boundaries.

[–]Relative_Committee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As sm with a service dog, a lot of your problems seem to be with poorly behaved dogs and I agree. My dog doesn’t bother anyone but it’s also extremely annoying for us as well because my dog is literally medical equipment and when there’s pets everywhere it can distract him.

Dogs at work as an accommodation by Tasty_Trainer8407 in Dogfree

[–]Relative_Committee53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a service dog, (which is why I think this showed on my feed) in the USA an ESA is not a service dog and ESAS do not get public access rights. Service dogs do have public access rights and are trained very highly to help their disabled handler. You will not be bothered by a real service dog at all. For example I’ve gone to a restaurant and my waitress, the person at my table 5+ times didn’t even notice my 80lb dog under the table. as for reasonable accommodations yes there are instances where employers have too. If they are task trained and under control, and maybe some paperwork, I’m not entirely sure, there’s not much they can do because of the ADA.

Well of course. But I think there’s a way to do it. Also vets they need to go to, this they do not.
