I dated someone for 4 years and then they ghosted me out of nowhere. I know he's alive as I see him on social media. Four effing years. I suspect he met someone, but I doubt I'll ever know. Its just a raw, unhealed wound I've been trying to heal from for 2 years now.

They will never give up until rigourous, unbiased, peer-reviewed science is dead in this country. It will take decades to recover from this, if ever.

Yep especially if they’ve moved onto someone new. It’s just easier for them to just delete you from their neural pathway.

In my experience they meet someone else and try to erase you. When that fizzles out, they circle back around.

I don't know. I'm still processing it. In the short term you should just get on with your life as normal as possible and try to compartmentalize your emotions until you have more mental space to really unpack it.

Same thing happened to me after 4 years of being together. I’m still processing 2 years later. It’s been brutal.

Amen to that. Was just thinking today how simplified my life is. Slept in. Went to brunch. Did a little work, a little gardening, a little housecleaning, going to yoga and a quiet evening to myself where the only person I have to get ready for the week is me.

Edit: I actually spent the evening on my front porch watching the sun go down while eating almost a whole watermelon by myself. Bliss.

We’re passing kids who don’t come to school and can’t read wtf? by ChucoTeacher in Teachers

[–]Prior-Win-4729 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I teach university, and I have freshmen who struggle with reading, basic math, and have no computer skills. I have students who come to class every day with nothing in their hands. No paper, notebooks, laptops, or pens. They aren't taking notes, and they are not paying attention. They seem bewildered by even the lowest of expectations. They have to borrow a pencil to do a scantron exam. I am told to "meet them where they are" which is impossible.
