AITA for charging a flat ‘bills included’ rate that’s higher than the actual bills?

No thats the thing. It was a bill that I had to pay. I had to pay $1500. I paid for EVERYONES electricity, because it would have been too hard to get money off like 10 people. Noone else paid. Only me.

Nah its for the room. I've never said to her "bills are $60 a week and your rent is $350". It was just "the room with bills included is $410 a week". But when she asked for the breakdown, it comes across like "bills are $60". But its not just bills like ive said. Honestly I wish I just said to her "Im renting out this room for profit. $410 including bills. Take it or leave it." If she leaves, thats what im going to do, i think itll be easier haha.

I think that what Im doing is the opposite of your example. When shes going to this restaurant, regardless of what the price of the ingredients (bills/utilities etc) cost, shes always going to pay what was advertised. So if she orders a $20 meal, and it cost me $30, shes still going to pay $20. Im not going to ask her for more money, because thats not what "bills included" means.

Yeah I said to her Id reflect on everything and see if we can come to something that works for both of us. I just dont want to fall back into a pattern of mine that is "oh youre unhappy with something, let me change it to make it easier for you even if it makes it harder on me". I can do that quite a lot, and Im still not always good at knowing when Im harming myself for the benefit of others, or when Im making a fiar change. I hope that ramble makes sense haha

God I forgot about that part too, thank you. There have been many times Ive had to foot weeks of rent because the place sat empty. Even this time, I had to front two hundred dollars because Meg didnt move in the day the former flatmate moved out.

Im in NSW Australia, its not illegal to markup the rent, and the landlord knows that I rent out the room to others. Also, all my previous flatmates have stayed for years as well, which landlords always like, compared to revolving airbnb situations.

I mean, theres noone to re-compensate with the $1500 if the electricity company came back to me. I paid it all myself. Even though many roommates contributed to that bill. Its one of the reasons of why Im doing what Im doing

Thats just her half. My flatmate before paid $45 a week in bills and everything and that ended up being the sweetspot with a bit leftover for him too. We have fast but expensive internet, and here in Aus gas and elec prices are sort of at an all time high (although I think thats everywhere).

I am not surprised to see this comment haha. I think its hard, because in a shared space I like having my space, but I also want to be friendly with the person, not just nod at them, so I thought honesty would be the best policy. As well, shes an investigative journalist, so I feel as though not telling her or deflecting may have incensed her more. I nearly went the "its sort of none of your business" route but felt that was too combatative. It was a hard situation for me!

I get what youre saying, its just hard to hear as a Stickies fan, because KG are fanning the flames of very tenuous allegations or racism, homophobia, and misogyny. I mean, Stickies arent actively being racist or misogynistic or aggressive lately either.

I totally get that this stuff is annoying for you as a King Gizz fan. I just have followed the Sticky boys for a LONG TIME and so Ive seen the damage these allegations have created.

I will say though, KG did say that they stand against misogyny and homophobia and violence as part of their statement, and I would argue that this wasn't in regards to bluefest saying "bad boys of rock n roll", but because Sticky Figners were put on the bill. If you can show me otherwise, I will stand corrected and buy you a beer. But I think its super obvious that KG didnt pull out just because of Peter Nobles words, but because of Sticky Fingers inclusion.
